View Full Version : A Really TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Story...

This may belong in the E-bay Insanity forum, but it really relates to how some "businesses" treat their customers...

I ordered a Saturn S-Video cable from VIDEOGAMEBARGAINS off E-bay nearly a month ago. I called the guy's store (as he requested) the VERY NEXT DAY and paid by credit card. I was told my package would ship in the next few days.

On 5/6, I sent this e-mail...

"Hello there. I paid for this item some time ago by calling you directly and paying by credit card. When should I expect it to arrive? Thanks"

His reply on 5/8

"Hello Customer,

Thank you for your email. Please email your name & address so we can check."

My reply on 5/8 was

"Hello again.

My name is

(my name and address here)

paid weeks ago for Saturn s-cable, never arrived.

No response. On 5/11, I sent this e-mail with the heading of "Second And Last Request"

"Saturn S-video cable

(my name and address here)

please let me know when to expect the item I paid for WEEKS ago before I file a complaint with Ebay and dispute the credit card charge.

thanks"

His response, also on 5/11 (seems he CAN answer an e-mail quickly)...

"Hello Customer,

I received your first email. I am not at the office on Weekends, there is
no way for me to check.

Take your threats and shove them up your ***. Feel free to contact ebay and your card company. Don't email me and waste my time if that is what you want to do."

So what do you guys and gals think about this? Was I out of line? Did I deserve to have this "professional" tell me to take my "threats" and shove them us my ass?

This was my reply e-mail...

Hello.

I am astounded by your lack of professionalism in your last e-mail.

I paid for this item nearly a month ago, and you took two days to answer my first request and never reponded to the follow-up. Then you tell me to stick something up my ass when I tell you that I am going to pursue the only legal means I have to get back the money I spent with your company?

Nice. Real professional.

Thanks"

Of course, that won't be the last Mister Professional hears from me... I'll be calling him back today when the store opens. I'll post again...

I'm surprised, but not much. "Regular" eBay sellers like to pretend they have a nice little storefront/business. But whenever they encounter a problem or difficulty, they become "asshole redneck flea-market vendor." Never assume that the seller is anything more than some antisocial rube with a nifty "professional-sounding" eBay ID.

I'd file immediate credit refund, I'd file with my credit card company, I'd fire this e-mail exchange (with headers) to ebay's Safeharbor (or whatever they're called now) and I'd add this chucklehead to our blacklist in eBay Insanity.

P.S. I just checked his Feedback rating. UGH! 94.6%?!?!? Even if he has 10,000+ positives, he also has nearly 1,000 negs and neuts! Looks to me like you saw the FB, rolled the dice that you wouldn't be one of the unfortunate 5.4%, and came up snake-eyes. I say "Sic 'im."

Atari 7800,

You have been wronged!! You have handled it very well...I word argue against actually talking to the guy. It could go very badly. I would take the email exchanges to Ebay, report this loser, get the charge off of your credit card, like Sniderman said. Sheesh. When I buy off of Ebay I would usually avoid these large sellers (with "reference" photos--kiss my ass) like the plague. I just don't have a good feeling about them. This is another unfortunate example of why. Wow, what an A-hole.

Good Lord, look at that feedback...I'd avoid calling this guy, too. Let the credit card company and ebay call him...with as many complaints logged against him, I'm confused as to why he's still allowed to sell on ebay.

Well, his feedback sucks. And he's obviously slow as hell at shipping, but besides the shove it up your ass part (Obviously, that was ridiculous) it's normal. I get over a hundred E-mails per day, and it takes me 2-3 days to reply sometimes, and the:
"""
If you can get back to me with:
Your First and last name
Address
Ebay ID
How you paid

I can let you know when item was sent out or if there were any problems with payment, Thanx again!
"""
Is a standard macro I use for replying to e-mails. I also don't answer e-mails on sunday, so the rest of it IS pretty reasonable. But you're right, that's WAY too long for shipping time, and he was a prick in that one E-mail.

I've called customer service (nice but no help) then sent out a blanket e-mail to the company. Got a prompt response with a shipping confirmation number (item was paid for on 4/22, shipped out 5/8)

Not enough for me. I called the telephone number listed on my credit card statement (different from the original one) and got in touch with some manager dude who seemed truly concerned that I had been told to shove my complaints up my ass. I forwarded him all the original e-mails.

***Here's the last e-mail I actually wrote...

"Thank you for the e-mail. I appreciate your fast response.

I am curious as to why a product that was charged on my Credit Card on 4/22 did not ship until the second week in May.

More to the point, I am outraged by a customer service employee who whould tell a (former) customer to take his legitimate complaints and shove them up his rear end. This is the kind of thing that gets around, and not in a good way.

Your company has nearly 1000 neutal and negative complaints on Ebay. I expect that number to go up as long as it takes three weeks to ship an item, not to mention the fact that customers are told to shove things up their arses when they complain.

Any response?

Thanks for reading. I hope to get my $10 item in the mail soon. I have no intentions of shoving it up my ***. "

That's all. I feel better now. DON"T ORDER FROM VIDEOGAMEBARGAINS on EBAY!!!
