Haha true on the infinte rocket launcher. Was playing with a guy yesterday that had that and he was blasting everything in sight. How do you get it? I heard by beating the game in under five hours.
That's correct. I finished easy with all S ranks in 2:45. :)

I beat it last night on Veteran, and I think its a great game, but not as good as RE4. The Mercenaries mini game is better IMO, but its a little bit harder than RE4's. I think that Sheva's AI is just idiotic sometimes, like when she walks right into a line of fire from a minigun majini and killing herself. I can't wait until I find somebody else to play with, I bet it will be a blast.

I wouldn't waste the time on easy, you can do Veteran in about the same time. Play on easy to pick up any missed S ranks if you're going for all the figures.
Then upgrade two of S&W M500 (Sheva gets unlimited ammo too) to 5000 damage and have a field day on Veteran, and hop back into Pro with the unlimited RPG. ;)

What's a good strategy for getting an S rank for enemies on chapter 6-2? It's a pretty short level with barely any enemies. I'm stumped.

Potential spoiler below:
The boss at the end drops these little black enemy things that jump on you, those count as enemies. Kill a handful of those and you'll get the S no problem.

My thoughts on RE5. Amazing graphics. The beginning actually looks real until that truck starts to come along. After that, the game kindof sucks. I thought it was fun doing the other two levels with a friend, but I guess the fun kindof dies with all the crappy level design and same repetitive bs just like RE4.
I actually think RE4 is better overall and I don't even like the game.

I really liked the game,BUT i think resident evil 4 was better.
The game really needed a better intro,i mean the intro of 4 was great.
QUESTION. //
In resident evil 4 there was 1 negative point.
With harder difficult settings the button bashing scenes where insane hard.
(i suck with button bashing, thats why i played at easy first)
Is this also the case in 5??

I played on normal and I didn't find them hard...
Sometimes I was just caught off guard when they would start and that's when I died.

I just started playing through the game again in veteran difficulty and haven't noticed any instances of the quick time events being any different than the first time around on normal. Mostly just the damage dealt by enemies is greater than before.

I have two more achievements to unlock in RE5. Playing on professional mode is probably going to drive me up the wall. The "take it to the max" achievement is just time consuming. I have five more weapons to upgrade.
I did manage to beat it in under 5 hours in order to unlock the unlimited ammo for the rocket launcher.

professional mode is just ridiculous. Especially if you like to restart the level once you die.

Beat it last night on easy just to unlock the infinite stuff. All I need is my machine gun and Magnum, and the game is mine. Me and the brother-in-law are going to run through it again on veteran.

85% complete.
Still need to finish professional and get all S rank. Gameplay so far sitting at 38 hours which is pretty good me think, plus mercenaries mode is great fun!
They are bringing out a versus download, where up to 4 people can fight each other or zombies. Also like how you can already get some of the figures to use in Playstation Home and the other content, tons of it.
Best game purchase I have made in a while, worth every red cent.

First, you need to shut all of the lights off, then have Sheva get the Rocket Launcher. Then, lure Wesker into the darkness she'll shoot him with the Rocket Launcher. Shoot the rocket after he catches it, then restrain him and then repeat.

I kinda figured that Sheva needed to have the Rocket Launcher, but honestly, the AI has been so bad that I figured she'd just walk around with it! I did figure out the light thing too, but thanks! Tonight I'm putting it together and taking it to him!

I prefer to use the RL myself and then switch to the pistol real quick, there is enough time don't worry. She tends to waste bullets and makes it longer then it should be.
Been playing this game with my friends girl the past few nights, we'd probably have beaten it by now if the game didn't wear me out after every other chapter. Hopefully we'll be able to finish it tomorrow night, but we'll see what happens.

Survivors is fun, but Slayers can get annoying when you're with people that just shoot each other the entire time. I HATE THAT.

I loved Resident Evil 4, but have never played any other game in the series (I've been playing RPGs for the past 10 years). I'm considering buying this once I get a PS3 (don't want the 360 version) but I am worried about the environments of the game. RE4 had so much variety; first you start out at a lone cabin in some creepy dead woods, then you get to some old towns, eventually you get in a boat, a grave yard, then a castle.
In the demo and every video I've seen of Resident Evil 5 it has shown some bright, plain, village. Do you get to see anything else?

You start off in the bright lit village, then you go to shanty town, then the savanna, then the marshlands, then underground caverns, and of course you know you'll end up in some creepy lab. The final battle takes place in a neat location as well.

I will not buy the versus mode simply because it is something that is essentially on the disk and should have been included with the retail game. This new strategy for nickel and diming people for "DLC" is really starting to piss me off.

So how can you tell how much time you've put into a game? I'm going through and some chapters are 10-12 minutes while others end up being 25-30 so I'm getting worried about how long it's taking.

I'm with you in principle, but it sure is a hell of a lot of fun. Through DLC shenanigans alone, Capcom seems to be quickly earning the rep that EA has been trying hard to shed as of of late (though charging for quick "unlock it all" codes isn't helping). Honestly though, if you don't have a steady partner to play with, it's probably not all that fun as a free-for-all.
My main complaint lies in the fact that some of the levels are pretty poor when it comes to balance, especially Public Assembly. I've had several instances of the other team getting slightly ahead in Team Survivors and just camping out at the tallest building until the time runs out. It's a very effective strategy, particularly if the other team doesn't have a rifle, but man is it ever cheap (and tacky) as hell. That, and the weapons are wildly unbalanced as far as what sort of points they give you.

This isn't nearly as bad as the costume fiasco in Street Fighter IV or the $5 costumes in Home.
You get a really good game mode, your loss.

Whenever you finish a level, you can check the time in "Chapter Select". From there it'll give you a breakdown per level, per chapter, and if you've completed the game, a total time. You can also view ranks on each difficulty here, or see things like total game time across all games, in the "Records" department.

Resident Evil 5 sucks! I played it. I beat it. Played it some more and I realized this is not a RE game. It's just another fucking FPS! Their hot now, with Gears, Halo ect. ect. It's just like when Grand Theft Auto came out and there was dozens of GTA clones. It's just sad that the leader became a follower. I meen those games are good. But the other 50,000 FPS suck. It also hurts the videogame industry when one type of game rules. I understand it's about money and selling and what people "want" and the "sure thing". But with out taking chances nothing new will ever come. Do you want to play FPS for the rest of ever. I don't, I hate FPS! and love RE. I have and own and have beaten every RE.(except those funky PS2 online ones) On a side note it might have been neat to get a Grand Theft Zombie.......... or Resident Evil Auto. Yeah thats it! Lol!
:onfire:FUCK FPS!!!:onfire:

OK 3rd person shooter. You guys are also dodging the main point. Resident Evil was never a shooter. I mean now you can get unlimited ammo!? WTF! Really..... Kinda goes as far from RE as possible. I'm sorry, I love RE games but they strayed way to far with this one. I hope they notice this and in the next one decide to go back to there roots and make it in a big city with a couple big houses or something. And make it survival and scary. Which this game very much lacked and are all very important parts of a RE game. I stick with my opinion. RE5 sucks. I also think everyone is just going with the masses and don't want to say..... yeah it's not a good RE game. But I also think in a few years everyone will be able to step back and say what I'm saying. I'm actually surprised that more people are not?
SHEEP! Buy your DC and have fun.
Cobra Commander
04-16-2009, 11:05 PM
Yeah.
We're all morons becuase we like RE5. Hasn't every RE had some form of unlimited ammo?
And if Resident Evil wasn't about shooting guns, then I guess I missed the point.
You think because you claim to hate a popular game you're some kind of enlightened holy man of gaming? I'll bet you couldn't wait to hop online and disseminate your insight. You're like the Ray Comfort of video games.
Thanks, I will have fun!

You're not alone in thinking this isn't a Resident Evil game. I've read numerous reviews that point out how the franchise has strayed from it's survival horror roots. It's more on the action end of the spectrum now.
It's still a good game though.

In RE4 you were able to pick up an herb and use it right away.
Why the hell in RE5 do you have to put the herb in your inventory first before you can use it? Bugs the crap out of me!
Also, I don't like the overused interactive cut scenes. I mean why do we have to press X, then A, now press XXXXXXXXXXXX, now wiggle the thumbstick, bull? This is so distracting from watching the cut scenes and following the story.
This is Resident Evil, not friggin' Simon Says.
These 2 things knock off points for me, I give RE5 8/10.

Also, isn't there supposed to be a way to combine the jewels?
I remember in RE4 you could combine jewels into jewelery (like bracelets, etc.) and make them more valuable. Did they get rid of that feature in RE5?
I wasn't able to do it unless I'm missing something.
Major flaw:
Let's say I'm shooting a zombie with my machine gun, and run out of bullets. I then wanna switch to a shotgun (or whatever). I then go to my inventory to switch. It does NOT pause, and I am still getting attacked. I understand it is more realistic this way, but it's still bullshit. Sorry, rant over.
