Hello there.
I have an US Sega CDX console, and I'm thinking about buying a 32X and a SMS adapter. Is the 32x and the SMS adapter compatible with my sega cdx?

I'm pretty sure that the 32X works but don't believe the Power Base convertor (SMS adaptor) does.

They both work with the CDX (tested personally). Not sure if they work at the same time.

They both work, but not at the same time. The possible exception would be something like the Mega Master or even Master System Converter 2 but I can't find anyone who knows.

They will not work at the same time, even if it's a Power Base Converter 2 or Mega Master. But, they each work fine with a CDX, and even the original Power Base Converter fits without modification (although it's a little snug against the power cord).
