Anyone else hoping this one pans out for the better? Not a whole lot of information is available about it online right now (such as the developer :( ), but at least it's out from under 3DO's grip. About the only good thing they ever really did with the license was letting Pandemic make Army Men RTS (which was basically Dark Reign 2 with green and tan armies). Edit - Oh, how did I forget about Air Attack? Must be because I'm still traumatized from the Army Men: World War series :(

Soldiers of Misfortune looks nice from what few screenshots have been released and the price sure is right ($13 on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017XFP9K)), but I'm nervous that it may wind up being little more than Ruff Trigger in a Toy Commander paint job.

About all of the information known about the game (which isn't much) is contained in this AllGame entry (http://www.allgame.com/cg/agg.dll?p=agg&sql=1:65743).

Here's some of the released screenshots since everyone loves pictures:

There's also a DS version coming out, of which you can find a shit load of screenshots here (http://www.whattheyplay.com/products/army-men-soldiers-of-misfortune-for-nintendo-ds/). I'm not really looking forward to that one too much because I don't generally enjoy playing games like that on my DS (hurts my hands too much holding the sucker they expect me to hold it and stylus aiming is even worse than an analog stick is to a mouse).

So yea, is anyone else interested in taking the $13 plunge ($20 on DS (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017XFP9A/) and $30 on Wii (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017XFP90/))? I think we can expect the Wii version to be identical but with wiimote aiming, but I guess if you haven't got a PS2 then it's the only way to go.

A little under 3 weeks before we find out if it sucks or not!

Looks like it could be good. At $13 I'll probably end up checking it out, unless the reviews are beyond abysmal.

I'll probably pick it up like I have with all the recent PS2 budget games. Having said that, I'm not sure what this has to do with Army Men since it looks like you play a kid in his bedroom shooting plastic army men with a nerf gun. Seems like they could have done a game like that without the Army Men license.

Bum news, but it looks like Target is taking preorders for anyone looking forward to the PS2 version of this potentially non-shitty game.

"Hello from Amazon.com.

We are sorry to report that we will not be able to obtain the following
item(s) from your order:

"Army Men: Soldiers of Misfortune"
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017XFP9K

Though we had expected to be able to send this item to you, we've since
found that it is not available from any of our sources at this time.
We realize this is disappointing news to hear, and we apologize for the
inconvenience we have caused you.

We have cancelled this item from your order."

Perhaps your order ran out of time to be processed, since its coming out on November 7, so it must have been deleyed some, im thinking....

Nah, it's been delayed a couple of times now and each time I've approved of the delay. Looks like Amazon isn't projecting even getting it right now, similar to Yakuza 2 back when Amazon first started taking preorders (Target was the only source listed).

Weird, because it's like it's happening in reverse. Like, with Yakuza 2, Target was the only listed source initially but then Amazon eventually listed themselves. Never seen 'em backpedal before a game was released that's actually looking to be released. After, sure. I mean, look at Heavenly Guardian.

Oh well, now I have to pay shipping and tax and such. On a $13 game, I'm not too worried about it. Just found it strange that they've pulled their listing when the game is like 2 weeks away from release :(
