Just ordered D2K: Jumpman Returns

Hello guys,
I've been lurking these parts since Feb but just started posting today. Anyways I just thought that I would let everybody know that I just ordered the D2K upgrade chips today for my DK cab. They are going to be sent out on Monday so I should hopefully get them by next weekend. Does anybody else have D2K yet? I'll make sure to post some more once I get the game installed. I will also probably be making a video on YouTube as soon as I get some practice in on the game.

I've played it on a converted DK cab, it plays better than the still images might have you think. Much more difficult than the original, has more of a Loderunner feel to it where patience and plotting is a virtue.

Yeah, the new levels look crazy. I can't wait to give them a try. I'm sure I will get my ass kicked quite a few times before I get the hang of it.

I played it on a converted cabinet as well, at this year's California Extreme. I also caught the last of the keynote from the designer. It's very much its own game, yet still feels at home with Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. - crazy difficult however.

I'm currently in the process of building one.

I don't know if you have it yet or not, but...it REQUIRES the Braze hi-score save kit. I thought I could just replace the ROMs and be done with it, but that's not the case. :(

My d2k chip didn't work so I had to return it and haven't got another one yet. I currently just have the high score save kit (must have), where did you order the chip from? I would like to pick up another one (I think I initially got mine from the developer because he said he didn't have any more).

It was pretty hard to install I thought, I mean it's not a hard process but your installing a chip in something that hasn't been touched most likely in 20+ years so it was really tough for me to get my kit in (without breaking or bending something).

Yes I already have the Braze High Score Save Kit. I don't know what I would do without it. If anybody has a DK arcade then it is a must buy. It keeps me from having to dip through the back of the cab and flip the dip switches.

That sucks that your chips didn't work. I ordered mine from arcadeshop.com. They have lots of really cool arcade parts. It won't be an issue with me installing it because I have plenty of experiece in that department. All you have to do is pop out the two old chips on the Braze HS save kit and put in the two new ones. If you don't already have the Braze kit installed then I suppose it will take a little more effort getting the Z80 chip out but it's not difficult.

Shouldn't be hard...just use a flathead jewelers screwdriver and G E N T L Y pry up on either end of the chip. A tiny bit at a time, until the chip comes free. If you pop it all at once you *will* bend the legs.

Well guys, my chips for D2K came in the mail today. I played about 7 games and am loving it. So far my score is 36,600and I can get all the way to the mixer without dying. It took me several games until I was able to get past the Mixer but now I can do it but still lose a couple lives in the process. My favorite level is the Refinery and my least favorite is of course the mixer. I also enjoy the elevator board a lot better because it actually feels like a complete level since you can't just run right through it. I'll get some pics up later and then link my video once I make it and get it uploaded to YouTube.

After receiving my chips for D2K I did a review of the game on YouTube. If anybody is interested then please watch it. I noticed that there are no videos on YouTube that show the ending, but mine does. Enjoy.
