Am I just sucking at these newer games, or are they getter way fucking harder?

I ask because Sega Rally Revo, I can smash through that on DC or Saturn no probllem on a normal setting. Virtua Fighter games I can destroy everybody on normal on VF4: EVO on down, but VF5:O, I am getting dominated. Yes, in VF5 I know the moves and combos, but they are just crazy difficult.

Even VF3TB on normal packed quite a challenge, but these dudes smoke me. Don't get me wrong, the first 3 or 4 dudes I fly through, but once I get to number 5, apparently Jacky sucks to fight them off (and Jacky is my boy in VF ganes0.

When the hell did games get so fucking hard? I remember playing these games on last gen (which was not too long ago) and I would be good at them, and now I get dominated. Did they forget on current gen systems what the hell the difficulty setting was or something?

Did you have more time to play then? More stress in your life lately? Have you taken the time to sit down and learn your opponent like you did back in the day or are you just trying to use old tricks?

I dunno, but from my experience there is always a way, maybe you just need to take more time. Honestly most games don't seem more difficult to me these days, just more buttons.

P.S. Don't forget to breathe. :D

Yes and you should retire. Better yet, give me all your games and find a new hobby. I think bingo will suit you well:D

Sometimes I can relate but it all depends on the fighting game. I can represent in any Tekken or Soul Calibur game, but King of Fighters and Guilty Gear give me a hard time once I get to the last few opponents. But like most things, practice makes 1 2 P.

I thought it was the opposite, actually: games have gotten easier. Super Mario Bros. is challenging no matter how many times you've played it; it requires a skillful command of the controller to manouver your way through the levels. New Super Mario Bros., on the other hand, I beat the game the first time I played it, in one sitting, without dying a single time, and with 20-something extra lives by the end.

Dunno about fighting games, but games in general are getting easier. I reckon it's due to newer games having more content than old ones, so it makes sense that fighting games would continue to be as difficult or even more so, since the formula of two dudes beating the hell out of each other on a single screen hasn't really changed.

I've found games to be both easier and harder at the same time. The games have increased in scope and complexity, control schemes have gotten harder and more involved, A.I has been ramped up too.

On the other hand, there are fewer games that seem hard just for the sake of being damn hard. Ninja Gaiden is just plan old hard, and I don't have the time for that anymore, maybe the kids do. I don't. I've never gotten into fighters as a 1 player game, so I can't say anthing about that.

On the whole, I think games are easier now than in the NES days. However, there are exceptions, like Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox. Also, like crazyjackcsa said, modern games have much more complex control schemes, which may figure into their difficulty.

What modern game doesn't have a difficulty slider nowadays? Overall, I think games were harder back in the NES days. If for nothing more than a lack of a saving option, check points, and the dominant "3 lives and you're done" arcade philosophy at the time.

Yeah, it is just crazy that I am getting smoked by Goh when I am Jacky. I was trying to fight him the way I fought him in VF4:EVO and he just dominated me.

Either that or Sega has upped the par on their games, because this is the second Sega game I have played that is naturally harder.

I am a huge fan of the Virtua Fighter series and is not much more difficult than past games, you need to update your fighting method and try another characters.

Virtua is very different from another fighting games in technique and timing, maybe you are less patient now

Games are probably easier on the whole I'd say and with less replay value much of the time. What I hate though is how complicated and time consuming some of them are. I don't necessarily want to play 40 hours or deal with a huge inventory etc

I thought they were getting easier in general. Ninja Gaiden and most recently Conan (highest difficulty) were pretty hard thoguh very liberal with Checkpoints.

Mega Man 9 is pretty freakin' hard.

I find that it varies from title to title. I can't finish Resistance Fall Of Man....and how long has that title been out? Many have finished that game ten times over. Ditto with Heavenly Sword. Can't do it. On the other hand, I don't have trouble with Ninja Gaiden Sigma and I can finish Ridge Racer games, but many people have trouble with the final races.

Call of Duty 4 on veteran difficulty is driving me insane. The enemies are so freaking cheap, I get shot if I even think about peeking around the corner. And constant spawning? Oh BOY!

Luckily there are checkpoints fairly often, otherwise I would not even be thinking about going on.

it just all depends on the difficulty you play on, but in general older games are harder i think

i can kick ass in any modern game pretty much,

but i played the mega man collection for xbox and had trouble beating the first level, lol.
