10-06-2008, 11:22 AM
NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Afficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.
Previously at NAVA...
- Bill "The Game Doctor" Kunkel gave a presentation on gaming and game journalism then vs. now.
- Atari 2600 and ColecoVision joy blasted the crowd as the store's very first Combat tournament was held.
- There was no singing.
- Many games and systems traded hands between attendees.
- Pictures and video tell it best:

http://www.youtube.com/digitalpressllc
For the October NAVA, we shall be giving away ONE HUNDRED PRIZES. These will consist mostly of promotional material and memorabilia that's been stockpiled around here over the past three years. Mario coins. Zelda art cels. GTA wrapping paper. Various game-related shirts, caps, buttons, pens, etc etc etc.
There will be many many ways to win! Trivia questions will be randomly offered to groups or individuals. Certain "achievements" earned throughout the store over the day will produce winners. Purchases at the register will qualify. It will be practically impossible to leave the store without winning something. More details will be provided right here a few days before the event, so keep an eye out!
Nothing, nothing can prepare you. It's NAVA time!
When: Saturday, October 25th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

I'm not going to be able to make this one. I ended up volunteering for a gaming con that weekend in Jersey called Ubercon. I might actually see about cheating my way out of it, as I'm really not at all excited about going to it anymore.

What will be set up this month? I know Rock Band 1 or 2, whichever, but what'll be on the other TV? Maybe an SNES like last month with that hilarious/awesome Power Rangers racing game?
Whatever it is, NAVA will be an absolute blast either way. W00T!

Without revealing too much ... I'm going to strongly encourage anybody and everybody who may be "on the fence" about coming to this NAVA - you should definitely come.
There will be a NAVA/Digital Press premiere of a short-form documentary that has something to do with a certain so-called "worst. game. ever.".
If you want to see it (and you need to see it) you'll need to be there for the premiere.
I promise it will be equal parts educational, enlightening, and hilarious.

During the last meeting I got a Crave Case from White Castle and it seemed to be quite a hit with everyone [the whole thing was gone within 10 minutes or less by my estimate]. I will get another Crave Case with my own money for the meeting around 4 P.M-5P.M when the most amount of people are in. If anyone is willing to donate some money so I can get more than one Crave Case you can always come by me during the meeting before I run off to the White Castle [My icon is a picture of me so I should be easy to spot and I will wearing my nametag also]. Each Crave Case costs roughly $21 dollars and come with 30 burgers apiece. I can't wait for this meeting as per usual!

I will be bringing a ton of N64 boxes and manuals. I want to sell everything in one shot at a low price. I probably have at least 400 pieces, and I would sell all of them, and the container they are in for $150. Lots of good stuff here. Seriously, it's a steal. PM me if interested in the lot. I'll probably throw in a bunch of boxes/manuals from other systems as well.
Does anyone need a box for a Vectrex system? It doesn't have the styrofoam or manuals, and it's a little beat up - but I will sell it very cheap! If you are coming to NAVA and want it, PM me with an offer - All offers will be considered.
I also just got a Digimon World Prototype for PSX. I don't know if anyone here will be interested, but I will bring it along anyway.
These are just a couple things I want gone. I have several other boxes of items that I will be bringing to sell.
I'm looking to trade for Little Big Planet (since I know several of you have it).

Man I'm pumped for this month's NAVA. I can't wait to see the video Joe and Frankie put together, just hearing the title made me laugh, it's gonna be a blast.
Always looking forward to what people have to sell this month, and I love the ones that have the best price! (Well.... Then again who doesn't?...)
With Rock Band 2 being set up this month brings me the question "Hey.... Will Guitar Hero: World Tour be set up next month?"
Oh, and Vectorman, I see you'll be selling some N64 boxes and manuals this month, I'm pretty interested if you got the manuals and boxes to the games I need, we'll see this month, but like I said I'm pretty damn interested!
Why do I keep skipping lines?... I... don't know..

There are worse games than E.T. It at least functions. E.T. is probably the worst of the really high profile games and has the most notorious story surrounding it.

Since I'm equal parts broke and tapped out of "gamimg" related merch to bring to this NAVA, I think I'm going to liquidate my collection of theatrical double-sided light-box movie posters.
I've got a pretty massive collection that spans a whole mess of quality films from 2000 to around 2007.
I'll let most of them go for around $5 each, which is a bargain considering these are legit theatrical posters, not the under-sized reprint garbage they sell at Spencer's gifts or FYE stores.

Those of you gearing up to play multi-player SNES games. I've got three different multi-taps here with me so don't worry about that. I hope someone is bringing Saturday Night Slam Master though. I've got Super Bomberman 2 but no other multi-tap games.

Turn John Hardie into a cyborg law-enforcement machine and have him guard the store after-hours.

What a great NAVA, I won a Gamer/Sega shirt that I have seen Joe wearing before, I got one of the easeist questions though for one of my favorite games, Super Mario RPG:
"What is the subtitle of Super Mario RPG?"
Pretty awesome if you ask me. The shirt is not in my size but it'll be a great collection item I suppose. I was lucky to finally find a copy of Pheonix Wright: Trials and Tribulations at the store, I've been looking for the 3rd installment of the amazing series for a couple of months now, glad I found it.
