After seeing that Megamania took up 16k on the 2600, I wondered what was the Atari's and cartridge systems in general biggest games. I can't recall cartridge based games going over like 20-40 MB on the N64....

The Pokemon Stadium 2 and Resident Evil 2 ROMs I have for N64 are 64MB each.

32x (4mb carts)
Mortal Kombat II
NBA Jam TE
Primal Rage
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV
Toughman Contest
WWF RAW
WWF Wrestlemania Arcade
Virtua Fighter

DS
A bunch of 256mb carts

GBA
A shit ton of 32mb carts

Genesis (5.25mb cart)
Super Street Fighter 2

N64 (64mb carts)
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Resident Evil 2
Pokemon Stadium 2
Paper Mario

NeoGeo
Yay for randomly sized carts. Probably King of Fighters 2003 (90mb) with SNK vs Capcom and Samurai Shodown 5 Special (both 89mb) coming in second.

IIRC, Fatal Run on the Atari 2600 was 32K, making it one of the largest/larger games on the system.

That Brazilian educational cart is allegedly 64K, beating even Fatal Run. And yeah, it's hard not to mix up megabits and megabytes from the NES era on.

Super Street Fighter II

There is another large cartridge for the SEGA Mega Drive. I think that it was knew as MEGA Games 10 or something like it ... The MEGA Series has a lot of games into one compilation cartridge, in this particular case it is a 10in1 game cartridge.

Koei also has some bigger cartridges for the 8-bit and 16-bit systems ... Some of the special packs were the same price as Neo-Geo AVS cartridges, but obviously with much less memory inside !!!

On the SNES, some of the largest included Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean, and Far East of Eden Zero.

I got Tales of Phantasia for SFC, this is one game that I wanted since there was a "ROM list" including this title ... The intro music has lyrics, and the sound is good when outputted by a real SNES. In fact the intro music is even better than the intro music that the Playstation sequel has, I downloaded the intro of the sequel (no lyrics at all!) this was on the official site.

Tales of Phantasia does not have a lock out , you just need to fit the cartridge on your console or use a modified Game Genie. But if the cartridge has some faulty connection on the console it could erase your saved games ...

IIRC, Match of the Millenium was the biggest cart on the NGPC.

I think 4MB was the biggest size for NGPC games. The Vectrex never had more than 8k during its lifetime, but homebrewers have pushed that up to 64k (although the Vectrex can only handle 32k at a time). 7800 I think is 144k.

Really?

I heard that it was 16k.

There are 4 and 16K ROMs of most Activision VCS games and I've always wondered why.

CosmicMonkey

King of Fighters 2003 - 716Mb / 89.5MB

Metal Slug 3
Metal Slug 5
Samurai Spirits Zero/Shodown 5
Samurai Spirits Zero Special/Shodown 5 Special - 708Mb / 88.5MB

Neo Geo home carts were always going to be the largest.

Isn't Adventure 2 like 32k on Atari 5200? I'm unaware of anything bigger.

Fatal Run (http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/fatalrun/fatalrun.htm)

That Brazilian educational cart is allegedly 64K, beating even Fatal Run. And yeah, it's hard not to mix up megabits and megabytes from the NES era on.

Some people listed the MegaBoy cartridge as being 64KB.

Cuttle cart is 2600. I said 5200 :P

And honestly? I can't really count what is essentially a better supercharger as the biggest game.

Hum ... yes, there is not a Cuttle Cart for the 5200. Does anyone know if this should work with the adapter?

There was a Cuttle Cart 2 (http://schells.com/cc2.shtml) for Atari 7800 . There is even a Cuttle Cart 3 (http://schells.com/cc3.shtml) for the Intellivision!

Warioland 2 for the B&W GB was 8 megabits, and I think it was the only one of that size.

Taken the meaning of the question to a different perspective... The biggest are those NeoGeo AES games. Those things are monsters!

All the 5200 homebrews are 32K as far as I know. Bounty Bob is the largest 5200 game at 40K -- isn't it?

does anyone know what the differences between the 16kb and 24kb donkey kongs on coleco vision are?

Wasn't the 24kb version the prototype, featuring the ladder-climbing intro and the incomplete "mudpie" stage with no hit detection?
