There's a few weeks to go until Halloween, and I'm sure that a few of us have some games we're thinking of playing in celebration. Here's what I'm thinking about playing before the month is up:
-Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES) - One of my favorite SNES games, and it's been a few years, so what better time to play it again than now? (Btw, Steven did an excellent review of this game on his site (http://www.rvgfanatic.com/7506/685715.html))
-At least one Castlevania game - I'm thinking of starting Symphony of the Night (I've got the PlayStation version), but I've still got to finish up Portrait of Ruin on the DS and Harmony of Dissonance on the GBA, so I might try to play through one or both of those instead.
-Dark Arms: Beast Buster 1999 (NGPC) - I've been spending a lot of time with my NGPC since I acquired it in August, and Dark Arms is the only game in my collection that would fit the Halloween theme.
-A Nightmare on Elm Street (NES) - There were a few times where I came pretty close to beating this game. Maybe I can finally do it.
-The Pinball of the Dead (GBA) - One of my GBA favorites, and a Halloween staple.
-Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts (SNES) - Another Halloween staple.
-Maniac Mansion (NES)
-The Addams Family (SNES)
-Scooby Doo Mystery (SNES)
-Eternal Darkness (Gamecube)
-Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube)
What about you?

I usually get the urge to play Resident Evil or Castlevania around halloween time.
If I still had my DS, I'd go sit in a dark, secluded place and play Resident Evil Deadly Silence, but I don't, so I can't.
Maybe Doom 3 or American McGee's Alice will have to take its place.

Thanks, appreciate the compliment. I can't believe it's been nearly a year since I wrote that ZAMN review! I had a lot of fun recounting some of my ZAMN stories and tales :)
Back on topic though, I'm actually playing Resident Evil (Saturn) and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts (SNES) as we speak. The original RE will always have a soft spot in my gaming heart, and SGNG I'm specifically playing just now because it is the month of October. What a freaking hard game, lol, but a fun one.

I probably won't play any game themed for halloween.
Will just play whatever I'm in the middle of at the time.

I always like to watch some of the Friday the 13th movies during Halloween. Maybe I will play the NES game, even though it doesn't have a lot to do with the movies.

Castlevania is a good pick.
Playing one of the Heroes of Might & Magic games on one of the Undead campaigns is also a winner. Armies of vampires and liches...I like it.

I remember getting castlevania 3 in october 1990 when it was released, so I usually play that or Ghouls and ghosts for the genesis.

Playing "spooky" games around Halloween is a must for me. Definitely helps to set the mood.
I have Dracula X: Rondo of Blood in the Turbo Duo ready to go. I will probably also fire up RE 4 and Demon's Crest.

I doubt I'll actually get a chance to fire it up, but if I ever am after a creepy/jumpy game, I'll go for System Shock every time.

Doing a video review for the RE: Umbrella Chronicles, so yeah I'm going to bust zombie heads from here to Halloween. :vamp:
Too bad the US release was in Novermber, a Halloween release would have been a spookitacular night of fun. :D

Heading to a friends house as they recently moved in last month. I may be my desktop and play some Painkiller. Taking the top-loader NES and some "scary" carts sounds like a treat and may request a setup for that at their place. Chances are they'll just want to play Rock Band...

For me it has always been Silent Hill 2 and every Halloween since the Silent Hill movie has come out, I play the game and watch the movie. This year I will most definitely be playing Silent Hill Homecoming and watching the movie. I can't wait =)

Castlevania is a must and the new Order of Ecclesia is coming out on the 21st, so I'll be all over that. Other games on the list would be:
Demon's Crest
ZAMN
Ghoul Patrol(maybe)
Lunar Knights(still haven't finished it)
Vampire Savior(SAT)
Ghouls N Ghosts(Genny)
Splatterhouse 3
Plus other Castlevania games since I've been on a binge

I may sit down and try to beat my old record on 2600 Halloween, but I just don't know if I'm up for a 9+ hour marathon again. @_@
And no one else likes it, but I love RE: Survivor. Maybe I'll throw that in. Or Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth to up the creep-your-shit-o-meter.

Fatal Frame and Castlevania series will carry the limelight. And if I can pick one up in time, Order of Ecclesia. I'm sure I'll get in some GC Resident Evils, RE4 Wii and Umbrella Chronicles in there for good measure. Just have to remember to lock the gate and turn the porchlight off... damn kids. Always wanting something. ;)

Halloween ALWAYS makes me want to play either Castlevania IV on the SNES or Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
Makes me almost tear up at the nostalgic memories I have playing those amazing games.
Last week I bought Silent Hill 2, 4 and Origins because I thought I'd better complete the set. I'll be playing #4 The Room, or Origins. I'd already played 2 when it was released.
I've been playing Silent Hill: Homecoming lately. I'm also looking forward to Dead Space and Castlevania: OoE in the weeks to come.

Don't usually play videogames on Halloween. But since this year the big day falls on Friday maybe I'll give Stubbs The Zombie a whirl on the old Xbox.

It's the only day of the year that I can justify playing Chiller.
I'll probably play some System Shock also, because it's awesome. There's really no reason to not play it all the time anyways.
It's definitely not a classic game, as it's not out yet, but I do plan on playing Dead Space! Looks to be pretty intense =)

No need to go to the abandonware sites when you can get Halloween Harry straight from the source for free (http://www.3drealms.com/news/2007/05/alien_carnage_freeware.html).

Thanks for the link, nz17. I remember playing Halloween Harry on my 386 computer.
I downloaded a copy and spent a little while playing. Man that brings back a lot of memories! Good Halloween stuff too!

If Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is still scheduled for release near the end of the month I will definately be playing that.
Maybe I'll fire up Richard Scarry's BusyTown on the Genesis. I've never played it before but judging by the name it sounds scary. I hope I am not disappointed.
I always start a game of Silent Hill 2 at least once a year and I never get past the apartment building since I always forget what to do, this year I'm hoping to actually beat the game for a second time before Halloween.

I just remembered the Treehouse of Horror level in Simpsons Hit & Run (I own the Gamecube version, if anyone's curious). I already beat the game, but maybe I'll cruise around that level for the hell of it, maybe even replay some missions.

My wife and I have been mostly playing our 3DO which we just got recently. We've been playing "Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller", an "interactive movie" for the 3DO, but its not really as Halloweenish is it sounds.
We are thinking of playing Killing Time on the 3DO for Halloween, but here are some other 3DO games we might try for Halloween (or really any day, we both love horror!)
We've been talking about some of the following 3DO games for Halloween:
D (even though the game has a 2 hour time limit), Alone in the dark, Doctor hauzer (with help with the Japanese from a walkthrough), Escape from Monster Manor
Ghost Hunter Series: The Mask of Death would be on the list but its got too much Japanese for us to get through.
We're waiting for Dead Space to come out too, as far as modern consoles go.
Also for people looking for more ideas, here is a pretty complete list of Survivial Horror games: Chris' Survival Horror Quest
http://www.dreamdawn.com/sh/list.php
And Horror-themed games here:
