My new CDX came in the mail today! :D
All my Sega CD games work great except Heart of the Alien. I got Heart of the Alien to work once, but usually just sits at the Sega CD bios screen.
I read on Sega16.com that Terminator is also incompatible with the CDX. Is there a comprehensive list of which games don't work with the CDX? Why don't they work?

Huh, I'm all but certain I've played Terminator on my CDX in the past.

Heart of the Alien is compatible with the SEGA Genesis CDX, both Out of This World and Heart of the Alien games are playable.
If you can't load the game, probably there is some problem with the power supply.
Sometimes "Who Shoot Johnny Rock?" is listed as being incompatible, but it was confirmed that this SEGA CD title display the graphics and sound on CDX, but it is unsure if the broken game play is what people is talking about. Since there was more than two persons that do not know how to "play" this game ...

Some revisions of the Sega CDX system won't properly play some CD games if the Power supply isn't the original CDX power rating...Such as, using a Sega Genesis 2 (MK-2103) power adapter instead....Did your system came with the official Sega CDX power supply?

Yes it did, however, in the auction the guy made it very clear that the AC adapter was damaged at some point and he resoldered the wire and taped it up. Now that I think of it, I didn't actually check the AC adapter to ensure that it was the original, I just assumed. I'll have to check it tonight when I get home from work.
Does it say CDX on it everywhere or can you tell simply from the specs? I can tell you that I was surprised how large and heavy the AC adapter was.

It should say MK-4122, 1.5A

Oddly enough, my copy of Joe Montana Football *only* plays on my CDX, hehe

The music test of Power Strike II (using a Mega Master Adapter) wasn't working on CDX ... The game played fine. Most if not all of the (problematic) games on the box of the Power Base Converter will work just fine on the SEGA Genesis CDX, the music is even outputted by the headphone jack. The same is not true for card games ...
I think that most if not all "problematic" software titles listed as 'incompatible' for the SEGA CD would play just fine on the SEGA Genesis CDX, some games could play even better or with a cleaner audio output.

There are only 3 games (afaik) commonly listed as "incompatible":
The Terminator
Radical Rex
Who Shot Johnny Rock?
I tested both Terminator and Radical Rex on my CDX and found no issues. I played all the way through Terminator and 4-5 levels of Radical Rex. Didn't bother booting up Johnny Rock though..
I also know for certain that I played through most of Heart of the Alien on my CDX some months back. All the way through Out of This World part 1 and probably about 50% of part 2. I'm unsure why you're having troubles with that one. Bad disc? Or worse, bad system? :(

Johnny Rock is a "Gun" game ... I believe that most of the Full Motion Video Games could be played using something like the American Laser Games "Gun".

I doubt it's a bad system. It's played everything else I've thrown at it and it's worked wonderfully. The only problem is with Heart of the Alien. That being said, I've played Heart of the Alien on my model 2 Sega CD just fine. It must be some interaction effect between the two. As was mentioned before, it also may be the AC adapter.

I've played a bit of The Terminator on a CDX, too. Had no problems.

That's what people at sega16 say as well. Some people can play it, some can't. Maybe it depends on bios versions?

The first run of Beggar Prince won't save on the CDX as well. Works fine besides that however.

I remember reading that Jurassic Park doesn't work well on some CDX's.
