I bought one with the x3 mod chip for my brother for his birthday. Anyway, they guy i bought it from wasnt the chip installer, he bought it that way. Anyway, he told me he didnt know how to rip games from disc to hdd, he thought it had to be ftp'd from a computer. Long story short, i was trying to add this dvd2xbox program to the app folder on the xbox and instead of landing in the folder it got spread out all over the E drive instead.....and i tried deleting my mistake. Then i loaded that app into the correct folder and restated, but i think i deleted too much. Now it wont go to the dash! And there isnt any install disc that i know of so i dont know how to recover any files i might have mistakenly deleted. I could really use some help please.
thanks

Generally speaking, there shouldn't be anything of importance on the E: drive, unless you're using a very old softmod. Even if the E: drive used to have your dashboard, there should be something on the C: drive to boot from (even if it's the standard unmodded dashboard).
If i'm not mistaken, versions of the X3 had a "safe mode" you could go into by holding down the eject button for a few seconds on startup.
If your dashboard is completely jacked, you can burn a modded bios to a CD along with a simple dashboard in order to boot off the DVD drive and ftp in a new dashboard.
The first question is, what do you get when you try to boot the system now?

I don't remember what that screen looks like, but does it have a settings screen? If so, can you turn on FTP access?
If you can gain FTP access, can you give me a screenshot of what's on the C and E drives?

ok, under settings -> networks setup -> DHCP i have it set to enabled. Says the static IP along with a name and pasword both being x3. Enter that into the same FTP i used earlier this evening and it connects, but in a few seconds it says connection lost. I did try connecting with the previous address, user name, and password, but that's a no go also.

OK, i got in to the xbox via FTP, i had to change the static ip listed in the settings to the one i used earlier this evening. How do take screen shots and post them?

I'd take the screenshots by hitting Alt+PrtScrn on your computer, and post them using a free online photo host like flikr or photobucket.
