Damn I just watched this trailer:
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41056.html
And this game looks amazing! I would say its a cross between Alien Soldier (non stop enemies and bosses) and Odin Sphere (for its style and visuals).
I have never heard of this game until now, but if it is not coming to the US this is just another reason for me to import a wii (for Klonoa as well)

It's by the same team as Odin Sphere... and it is coming to the West next year.

That does look pretty cool, but c'mon, we need another 2D Final Fight or Streets of Rage.

I understand the nostalgia and all, but man, those games were just ridiculously repetitive.

Fight X number of guys with only a handful of moves, continue to the next screen.
rinse and repeat about 30 times, fight a boss, start over.

I just really don't get the love for them honestly.

the flashy graphics and beams of light every time the main charecter does anything is way too disorienting to me.

wake me up when they make guardian heroes 2 or streets of rage 4.

for me a lot of the love has to do with the style, I'm big into pretty much anything that has a broken down, cyberpunk vibe to it. And those games (SoR more so than FF), pretty much nail that whole atmosphere with the degraded alleyways, 80's new wave/punk fashions and techno clash music.

This game is one of the reasons I'm re-buying a Wii next year. Hopefully it won''t be plagued by massive slowdown like Odin Sphere.

The same can be said almost all games.

Shooters: shoot shoot shoot reload shoot shoot shoot reload

Racing: Petal Brake Petal Brake

Platforms: Jump run jump run jump

Action: Punch Punch Slash Slash Kick Kick

RPG: battle battle battle

We'll love them cause they're fun, enjoyable, and give us that quick get-away from times are stressful or you want to enjoy the moment.

I'm digging this game ALOT! Goes on my must-have list for '09. Vanillaware has a nack in showcasing the greatest potential and beauty in 2D gaming. Too bad most game companies aren't following suit. (I'm looking at you Konami.)

I like the background artwork. The part at the end with the waves is especially impressive. I wonder if that's in-game.

It's all about the pacing. To me, Final Fight (SNES) has good pacing. TMNT II: The Arcade Game (NES) has horrible pacing. Take two steps, fight four purple guys...take two steps, fight four purple guys...take two steps, fight four purple guys...take two steps, fight four purple guys...boring!

Looks nice, is it Wiiware or can I own a disc? I wonder if you can play it with a joystick.

Cancelled. For the US anyway...

I'm sure someone will eventually release it here.

It's not officialy cancelled, the way XSEED worded their statement seems to indicate it's changing hands to a different publisher. Why that is remains to be the true speculation.

Could it be for better market funding, a bigger distributor, more time to focus on other projects? These could all be factors. XSEED is a very small company, they might not have the man power to do all these MMV co-published titles at once without creating delays. I'd take a guess that maybe Atlus is footing the bill here since they have an excellent distribution base, although I wouldn't put a larger publisher like Sega or Ubisoft out of the question. Whatever the case, we'll find out soon from IGN.

I've got to agree with Rob2600 on this one. It would be alot better if it didn't stop the action after you defeat said number of bad guys then run along to change screens (that don't seem to go together coherently).

I agree that it looks entirely too repetitive to me and before others starts, yes I've already realized that most games have the same basic patterns. The game just looks boring to me just like how Oden Sphere bored the hell put of me, this type of repetitiveness just isn't my forte. I do hope the game eventually does come here tho, I may not like the game but I feel for the fans of the genre who have to suffer because of a sudden delay/cancellation.

Yes! For a second, I worried we'd had to wait for nearly a year like with the new Ghostbusters. It's nice they found a publisher so quickly but a bit sad it got scaled back to September. Oh well, good things come to those who wait.

Looks like fun, I really like the style and FX. I'll be checking it out when it released.

I don't have a Wii and didn't like Odin Sphere, missing this one doesn't bother me.

Kotaku has a great write up on the game this morning.

Also +1 for the first sentence. Those Kotaku boys just "get it".

Got my copy on Friday and the game doesn't disappoint. It's freakin' AWESOME!!! Clearly a must have....I repeat, a must have for the Wii. :king:

Surprised no one else has brought up this topic up yet?

I'll be getting it eventually, not quite sure I wanna spend the full $50 on this one yet.

I picked mine up on Friday… just took off the wrap a little while ago and am about to go play now… :embarrassed:

The game supports digital control, via the classic controller or the Gamecube controller, so I imagine you will have good choice to use what ever control you desire. I am going to use my Hori game pad.

It is a true visual feast for the eyes, and a great game to boot.
What did you all think about the wallscroll? That thing is WICKED! :D

Enjoyed odin sphere on the PS2 since it was a spirital successor to princess crown on the sega saturn. When i heard about vanillaware making muramasa for the wii that did catch,my interest.Afther watching plenty of videos for it and seeing it was a good old fasion hack'n'slash game that was enough for me.I did preorder muramasa the demon blade a few months back on amazon.I can't wait for it's release given games like these are, rare on the current gen of consoles.

Btw not to mention good games by third partys are rare for the wii.

I saw the IGN video review (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFtRsJXFMuU&feature=channel_page) and the game looks amazing. It is definitely worth picking up.

This game is more of a "side-scrolling action RPG" than anything else. Everything is interconnected, and requires travel in order to get to your destination.
There's sidequests and collectibles in the game too.

I'd go as far as saying this is yet another spiritual successor to Princess Crown; it uses a lot of the same features and such.

If you've got a Best Buy Gamers' Club membership, you get a free ten dollar gift card if you buy it between today and Sept. 18th...

It looks fantastic, but I don't have the funds to get it for a while. Too bad... I've got way too many other games I need to finish up anyway.

Yeah i did say hack'n'slash, but since it's a arpg i don't mind at all.Sounds like how you discribe it plays the same as princess crown and odin sphere.Wich is good then since i've played both befor.I'm looking forward to getting muramasa the demon blade in the mail.
