Looks cool, why did you go for the quantum fighterpad controller exactly? I got that as my first 2nd controller and it was horrible.

It was very easy to use in a portable. And once modified it is as nice as the Sega brand Original.
I modified the triggers and the layout of the d-pad/joystick and I changed the d-pads buttons.
@ANONPLOX ..... I have one in the works, but it really doesn't matter much now. The disc only spins when loading new levels/info and my hands are nowhere near it and even if they were the disc doesn't do anything but stop if you touch it. And the laser doesn't shine through the disc enough to do any damage. :)

Tell me about it. Darn Lithium-Polys are expensive.
But I needed the small batteries. Everything barely fit in the case as it is.

Whats the difference between getting a used Dreamcast game or a copied game.
Neither Sega nor the original publisher get anything from any Dreamcast games sold now.
So I want to support Ebay or EB Games?

You are extremely talented. I dream of doing things like that!
Great work. :D
Did you figure out a way to implement VMUs?

EB games doesn't sell them :P And only a small bit would go to ebay, the majority of course would go to the person selling it, or say you could buy them somewhere else, like the dp forums :P

Thanks :)
The vmu is inside and hardwired.
I decided there wasn't a need for an outside VMU since there are only one or two games that use them and even then it's not really "necessary"

Well the point was the system has been abandoned by the developers and Sega and they don't approve of used game selling anyway, So I really don't see a problem with copied Dreamcast games :)

Awesomeness! You would make an extreme profit out of these if you started making more. ;)

Wow, nice work. I'd love to make something like this is I had the time. And you probably could sell these if you made more, it looks very professional, except for the opening on the back.

EXCELLENT!! A+++++ JOB.... You should try to make a Sega Genesis or N64portable, that would be Amazing.
You know what you should do..... sell 1 and only 1 ebay and say that this was prototype sega never made a OFFICAL one... LOL
What made me LOL was theat you said "dreamcast games are hard to get, so we go copy... LOL

Hey Dreamcast games are hard to come by unless you shop Ebay. :)

As I mentioned the Quantam Fighterpad is easy to modify and is actually better than the original Dreamcast pad after it is modified.
And the cd spindle is not dangerous. It spins so slowly that all it does is slow down and stop if I accidentally touch it. But as it's designed your hands never get near it. And the cover is nearly done for it.

Damn! is their any thing you can't make.... You should sell them, I know I would buy one (when I have the $$$).. N64 & DC one.
This is true about hunting down DC games.
Keep up the good work.

That's awesome! I would buy one if you started making more. It would probably be a lot cheaper to make if you get the parts in bulk.
And I agree with you that there's nothing wrong with copying dc games.

It's impossible to make this one in bulk.
And if I had a case manufactured there would still be a ton of work integrating a controller, adding a Psu and batteries and screen.
And then I would need to charge $500-$600 to make a profit.
So yea.....this is more for fun :)

To guy who wanted this made in bulk: if you want a "portable" dreamcast, probably the next next generation portable will be able to emulate it.
anyway: You have any of those fun "making of" pages?
