Hi,

I have a modded original style PS1 that I bought a while ago, however, I forgot to ask the previous owner whether it was modded with a "stealth" chip. (The ones that are supposed to bypass the "anti-mod" protection that on several PS1 games.)

I've only have one import game, the original release of "Kaze no Klonoa - door to phantomile-". But, since it was made before the game manufacturers starting putting the anti-mod protection in their games, I obviously can't use it figure out what chip I've got.

I was wondering if there's a way to find out what kind of chip I have in my PS1 without taking it apart. (Just in case I decided to buy more PS1 imports!)

taking it apart wont answer your question either, they are all burned on PIC microcontrollers so they all look the same :P you can see if it's stealth though by testing a burned copy of a game like dino crisis (make sure the iso is not cracked or patched or whatever) or you can try a legit copy of it. there are other games that have protection too, you can find a list online

Try Dino Crisis or Legend of Dragoon.

The US or JPN version? Or do both versions have anti-mod on them?

Hey, could you post a link to one of these lists? I've been searching with Google, but I can't seem to find anything. All the searches I tried either gave me links that are dead, or stuff that's totally irrelevant.
