***SPOILER ALERT***

Okay, so I think I'm done with Dragon Quest IV DS as far as I'm concerned. I haven't gotten every single item, but I have:

-Gotten the liquid metal sword and shield (not the helm, I don't like doing casino stuff)
-Found about 45 mini medals
-Beaten Psaro for the 1st ending
-Rescued Rose
-Gotten Psaro to join
-Gotten most of my characters to level 45+ (including Psaro)
-Gotten all of the Pandemonic items for Psaro
-Raised the pioneer town into a castle & transformed Farog
-Almost completely filled out my monster book
-Demolished Aamon and got the 2nd ending

How far is everyone else in this one? I feel like the only one playing it...

Did you find at least 1 of every enemy? If you have, you won't need to worry about doing anything in the casino to get that Helm (or you could have Torneko steal it from a King Metal; good luck on that).

Since I played the heck out of the PSX version, I already knew where to go, and what to do and beat the game at 15:44, and got the 2nd ending at 20:55 (which I never did on the PSX version). Right now, I'm trying to defeat 20 of every enemy, so their item appears in The Big Book of Beasts (or make them drop their item).

How long would the average RPG player take to complete this game for the first time? One big plus for me in Dragon Quest VIII was the extreme length.

There is something about Dragon Quest games that makes me feel good http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/Athefre/smile.gif

Well, I'm at 10 hours or so and I'm only on Chapter 3. From what I've read, Chapter 3 is only about 20% in. I'm estimating it will take me 40 - 50 hours to finish the game (taking my time obviously).

I'd love to play more but Tales of Vesperia is taking most of my free time away right now.

Thanks, 40-50 hours for a handheld game is great.

I loved the demo and most people seem to like the whole game so another game I have to get...

I'm about 16 hours in and I've just started chapter 5. I'm not sure how far away I am away from the end since I don't want to spoil anything for myself but I love it so far and it doesn't seem like the end is coming up any time soon.

If you've just started chapter 5, then the game is about to really open up for you. You are quite far from the end, I can assure you of that.

I did play the NES original so I knew the story already, but with the side quests, subtracting a few hours when I fell asleep, I'm at about 37 hours with everything I have done listed above. For someone that hasn't played it before, yea I'd put it in the low-mid 40 range, about 50 if you want to do absolutely everything.
