Wow, I thought for sure with this list, someone would be interested in SOMETHING....All these machines listed are 100% working (PCB, marquee lights, reject lamps, monitors adjusted, cabinets cleaned, etc), and I can ship (if anyone's willing). Or is the economy really THAT bad? Well, I guess there's always Ebay, I just thought I'd give everyone here first shot at it.

The problem with DP is that most people here are so tight they squeek. If your not almost giving them away, interest is only luke warm. At least that's been my experience here. Plus your pretty far from the rest of the country too. Pics might help too.

just my $.02

I'd love to go to town buying stuff from you, but there are two reasons why I can't (and, I'm sure these stand for most people which might explain why you aren't getting any interest....)

1. Connecticut is a bit of a drive, even from Pennsylvania
2. The economy is terrible (my fiancee's company laid off 500+, including her....no spare money to be had)

Your best bet is to just keep advertising your sale and wait it out until Obama gets into office in January and hopefully fixes the economy quickly.

Also, try adding pictures....people tend to not buy stuff, especially major purchases like arcade machines, if they don't get to see the items first. (Also, take pictures with the games on so people can see clean monitor images.)

Pictures would definitely help this thread out and generate more interest. I also think that some of your prices are on the high side, which again in this economy might be tough for you to get for a little while. With that said, you do have a number of things which I am interested in. Only without photos I didn't want to first bother you for photos, and then try to chew you down in price thereby risk coming off looking like a jerk. I'm in NJ and have no problem making the drive, I just want to have a good idea of what I am getting before I leave.

Everyone's pretty much nailed everything - bottom line, it's 100% buyer's market right now unless you've got a title with a low production run that's highly sought after. These machines will be exceptionally tough sells, especially given the current state of the economy:

Police Trainer, Lethal Enforcers conversion - $800
Lethal Enforcers dedicated cabinet - $350
Off Road 3p - $550
NBA Jam dedicated 4p cabinet - $600

These four machines are a dime a dozen. Mileage may vary depending on the local market conditions, but I've seen a dozen dedicated machines of each of these titles in very good/pristine condition that haven't even sold at $250 each over the last 18 months. Not because the games aren't fun, but these titles in particular are way oversaturated right now. I passed on a free Off Road just because of the space it takes up.

As others have said, unless you have to sell right now it's probably best to hang on to them and wait for the economy to improve.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was starting to think my thread was on a deserted island somewhere, lol. Unfortunately, due to camera restrictions (as in, my camera takes HUGE pics, and I'm not exactly a photoshop master), I am unable to post pics here. Perhaps I am summarily an idiot, and there IS in fact a way to post pics after all? If anyone has advice there, I am most definitely willing to post pics.

As to what Arcade Antics posted concerning the "dime-a-dozen-machines". Yes, I know. The issue is that 1. I work for an operator, who, of course, wants ridiculously top dollar for everything that goes out the door. 2. I know what this stuff is (or isn't) worth, within reason. 3. We have so much equipment we are running out of space to put it all. 4. We *NEED* to make some space. I've got a whole warehouse full of old stuff (not pac man's and whatnot, but more like Out Run's, etc.), the problem is we are never going to use this stuff on the road again. I know a 19" upright Out Run is worth maybe $300 or so, the problem is the guy I work for sees it go out the door and says," Oh, what'd you get for that?". If the answer is anything less than $650 or so, I get to hear about it for weeks at a time about how it's a great piece, it makes big money, yada yada. So I am trying to move some stuff out for what I feel is a happy medium for both buyer and seller.

Some of the higher priced "merchandise" is for a reason. Pinball machines, for example. If I sell one, I've gotta replace it with something else. As anyone familiar with the arcade industry knows, pins aren't cheap. So, I've gotta get something like a decent price for those I sell. Some of the video games, old as they may be, do actually still make money for us, so I'm not looking to give them away. Also, some of the other higher priced videos are not paid for yet (for us), so I need to sell them for at least enough to break even. I am not saying that this justifies every price on that list, but these are my reasons for pricing as I did. Prices are potentially negotiable (within reason, please), I am willing to work with folks on this.

Again, if anybody has some advice for a non-photoshop savvy guy on how to chop and crop a pic to make the size restriction here, I'd be happy to post pics of anything and everything on the list for sale. Thanks again for everyone's comments!

If you have MS Paint it's as simple as Image > Stretch/Skew and then scale it to maybe 25% or so just to try it out. Work from there and see what's the appropriate scale for your picture sizes. Then once you save it from paint, the file size will have dropped dramatically just being in a regular .JPG format instead of some super-high quality one (and you'll never be able to tell the difference on the forum).

You can sign up for something like photobucket.com and when you upload them, you can set it to be a certain size regardless of upload size

Wow...Brave Firefighters! That is a lot of fun. My wife and I used to go to the arcade, jump and roll around like idiots and have a blast with that one! Ugh...makes me miss the good 'ol days!

Do a search on batch resizer. There are a number of freeware programs that will resize all photos in a given directory.

It sounds like you need to really talk to your employer. If you really are running out of space then you might try to push him to consider accepting lower prices. I can see his point that if the machines do still make him money then he should keep them, but if they aren't going to be routed again then just clear them out.

I've been on a bit of a buying kick as of late, trying to add to my collection at the same time upgrade some of my pieces. I've been using the slow economy to my advantage as it is allowing me to take my time trying to find items in just the right condition.

Exactly. #1 and #4 on that list are mutually exclusive, one or the other needs to go.

Yes, we are keeping quite a bit, most of this is equipment that is extra (no longer needed), or outdated. When you buy package deals, or other routes, you tend to end up with repeat titles and no homes for it all. Also, trying to bring the arcade into the new millenium (finally). I think the newest video game there was Rush 2049, and even that is 8 or 9 years old. It's not a problem to keep the classic stuff, however, I don't believe Steel Gunner is exactly classic. Area 51 on the other hand....you guys get the idea. I am going to try and post some pics of this stuff, soon as I can find my camera. Stand by, all.

You should print out this thread and show it to the operator.
I just checked ebay, and a top skater didn't even get a bite at 1k.
The board and cage didn't even hit 50.00 :P

Or tell him to peek at ebay completed search.
a machine is only worth what the market dictates.

I have noticed this phenomena every time. Arcade collectors/gamers on forums usually sell/buy/know where to get arcade stuff at much lower prices than if you were to go to an arcade operator and buy his stuff at a store/warehouse. It's as if there are two completely different markets at work that don't seem to have anything to do with one another even if they are for the most part the same type of stuff that is being dealt with. I guess some people out there need to check the internet to get an idea of how much stuff go for or are there just suckers out there that don't know they can get the stuff cheaper in the internet and instead just get them physically from the operator??

well, people on a video game collecting site know whats up.
The middle-aged guy on craigslist has no idea on fair market value, so hes the one that would pay for a jamma rig that may have considerable wear and a hacked wire harness (I was talking to this person last week. Tried to help him, but didn't listen.)

I totally agree with you when you say its as if there are two different markets. In reality, I guess There are. The operators who look at these machine for profit and the collectors who want them in the home to play.

at high prices, arcade machines will sit in a warehouse for another 10-15 and the cycle will continue..."GAME ON!"
Then when the older operator dies off, his wife liquidates. game over.
lol
