I _never_ go into this store, but stumbled on a few good prices tonight.

Bought
GBA Marble Madness/Klax $7.49
Gamecube Baten Kaitos Origins $9.99

Saw
GBA Final Fantasy V $14.99
GBA Final Fantasy VI $14.99

I've seen some decent deals on FF V, but hadn't run across a decent deal on FF VI like this.

50% off prices marked up ten bucks over normal retail?

No thanks. :\

Also, all their sales are very very very YMMV (your mileage may vary). Every time someone posts about an FYE sale at CheapAssGamer, it never applies to my crappy store.

There's a pretty nice port of Klax on the cart, but Marble Madness only has the first three levels. I kid you not. Talk about fail.

Anyways, I can confirm that one of the local FYE's is doing this with new stuff. I've even heard that some stores are applying the discount to their used GBA/GCN/Xbox stuff as well - but as Kitsune said, it's YMMV.

I was looking for FF6 last time I was in there, but their GBA section is a MESS. There's nothing good left anyway, because they usually didn't get the good stuff to begin with.

For what it's worth, this was going on at my local store, all xbox/gamecube/gba titles, both new and used, were 50% off. Selection was kind of picked over, but I grabbed Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter and Quantum Redshift for $1.50 each, and Breakdown for $3. All were on Xbox and the discs were actually in really good condition. Considered Geist for $4, 007: From Russia with Love for $2.50, and Intellevision Lives for $2.50.

You know, GameStop prices are still lower than FYE 50% off prices in many instances... There's some random stuff that's cheaper, but not a whole lot.

And my local store only had the new stuff on sale. There were maybe 5 different GameCube games that were still new, and they were the Cartoon Network/kids variety. They had next to nothing left new to begin with, and they have tons of junk in used.

Come to think of it, I've never bought a game from FYE. All I can get good deals on there are music and anime.

My local FYE has a brand new copy of Super Robot Wars OG 2 that's been $30 since the dawn of time. They REFUSE to lower the price on that sucker. I've been eyeing it for over a year...

Too bad I exhausted my tradeable CD / DVD collection. :p

I'm no fan of F.Y.E. but any place that sells a new Baten Kaitos Origins for under 10 bucks is ok in my book, been looking for a decent price on that one for a while

In my experience, FYE is very hit and miss. There's a lot of overpriced stuff, but I've had a few notable finds. For example, I scored a used copy of Lego Star Wars II for the Gamecube last month for $7.99.

My only good experience with them was spamming them with a bunch of trade-in CDs and getting enough to buy myself a PS2, a memory card, the Guitar Hero II set, and some games. :p

I think they still hate me at that store for doing that.

You guys are all lucky. My F.Y.E. stopped carrying games at the beginning of this year:( But I did learn a trick with their pricing. They very rarely mark their prices down. I took Silent Hill 2 to the register and asked them how much it was(it was marked at $39.99). The cashier said it was marked and I told him to scan it anyway. It rang up at $19.99. I tried that on a few other games and it was hit or miss, but even if it happens once it justifies my point.

Well the one near me has this sale going, picked up Gunstar Super Heroes for $5, may go back today and get F-Zero GX which would also be $5 after the discount, also thinking about getting a Max Payne for the Xbox since it would only be $1.50.

Get it. It's one of the best games for the system(I just beat it this year although it's been in my collection for the last 3 years).

You'd better get it before the movie causes the prices to jump!

(Couldn't resist. :p)

What about for PS2 also?

I've heard it has one hell of a "disc read error" feature. Is that what you meant?

Mine did as well. Besides, I like Game-X-Change and Hastings a lot more than FYE.

Wish I could go to my F.Y.E. They still had a Gamecube, Xbox Live Starter kit (ORIGINAL!) and FFXII being sold for full price. Would be nice to purchase the GC if only I could say I had a GameCube unopened in box.

Go take it up to the register. I'm pretty sure it will ring up for less than what it's marked.
