just completed the main game up and now have extra hard levels to play, how many of these are there?

I think they just repeat until you turn the power off. It's seriously been decades since I've spent that long playing SMB, but I seem to remember that the hardest it gets is when every enemy is a beetle by your third loop or so.

I was not aware that beating the hard difficulty resulted in even more changes. I beat the hard difficulty once and promptly switched the game off thinking i had seen it all. I may just have to give this another run tonight if i get a chance and see whats up with that.

I've only beaten the normal difficulty a long time ago. After going through 1-1 I did notice the difference although being the same game I didn't feel like going through it again.

yea after going through the first time i wasn't really gunning to beat the harder difficulty i was just going through a bit to see the changes, then again it only takes like 10 minutes to do an average super mario 1 run if your halfway decent. 1-1 to 1-2 to 4-1 to 4-2 to 8-1 and then onto koopa.
