So what are some video games that contain Spikes. Here's a few I thought of..
Megaman 2 (bubble man) + lots of other stages
Star Wars Nes (death star level)
The Lost Vikings
Can you name some others?

Spikes? What type of spikes? I can think of some games ...
Are you interested in spikes from plants?
Sonic the Hedgehog.
Ristar
Shinobi III
Do you count stalactites and stalagmites?
And a special mention of Double Dragon, the "Spike" and "Hammer" brothers .

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant spikes on the Floors, Walls and Ceilings.

Final Fantasy VII. Cloud's head is up in the air, and he's got quite spikey hair...

It's not just Mega Man 2 that has spikes. The majority of Mega Man games do. The original Mega Man has an entire room full of them with one moving platform on the final stage, Mega Man X6 having them on almost an entire stage, or Mega Man Zero 2(which sucks,) having them on the majority of stages. Just a few examples.
There's quite a few Castlevania games. Castlevania 2 is the first game in the series to have them, but then Super Castlevania 4 does, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, etc. And like someone else said, Sonic games too.
Blaster Master has spikes in the top down areas. So does Magic of Scheherazade I think. I think the only Mario to have spikes is Super Mario World.
I honestly didn't even graze how many games have spikes because I know that many more do. These games are the first ones that ended up coming to my head and I didn't really have to attempt to think hard. I could think of others.

Really...that like asking for a list of games that have holes you can fall into or those with moving platforms. Not to be a killjoy, but "avoid spikes" is a very basic game obstacle and - hell - AVOID SPIKES is in Tempest the arcade game...

On the far right...
Um, pretty much every 8-bit and 16-bit platformer.

I wanna be the guy. If you've ever said to yourself damn i wish that these spikes were set up to kill me 99% of the time (along with EVERYTHING ELSE) then you should check out this game. What it lacks in production values it makes up for in being one of the hardest platformers in history. If you enjoy pain check it out lol.

Hahahahahahaha
Yeah, asking about deadly spikes is asking about the all mighty death pits in platformers.
That does bring the question though: if these games are so realistic now-a-days, why the hell are there death pits? Tell me 1 place in the world that has a death pit?

There are a lot of games that have spikes in them. Most of the games that I can think of quickly have been mentioned.
If you want to start looking for characters, Spike Mcfang for SNES is my contribution.

oh man good call with tempest what a great game. mortal kombat, megaman, super mario 2 & 3, hell im playing through chrono trigger and there are some spikes in there even (no not really insta death spikes but ozzies fortress has spikes on top!). also in regards to the question of spike pits in real life i would draw your attention to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punji_stick this wikipedia article on real life insta death spikes lol.

reading the article about punji sticks gives you some insight as to why a spike would kill someone almost instantly. I can surmise that the vast majority of deadly video game spikes are coated in feces to promote infection. Infection is the number one killer of video game heros.

Kirby and Spikes don't go together, however Mario seems to have been void of them in their series. I think King Koopa is onto something there...

1 kill spikes are so stupid.
Especially in games like Actraiser 2.
You're supposed to be god, and you're afraid of a spiked floor?!
Don't forget the retracting floor spikes in the awesome Gauntlet games!!! EVERYONE'S faced THOSE. LOL

Games with Dikes!!!
There were wall spikes that Raziel could impale enemies onto in Soul Reaver.
