So Fable II came out today. Who picked it up and what do you think about it?

I've only been playing for about an hour and am still a little iffy. Having not played the original I'm in the dark on what to expect. I will say though, the game is absolutely gorgeous to look at.

I picked up the LE today, don't know when I'll be able to cram it into my schedule since I want to beat Dead Space first, I just picked up CV, and Guitar Hero/Fallout 3 come out next week :-/

I love it so far about 3 hours into it. When I first arrived in the town I accidentally killed someone by the clock tower and it was funny how people changed their perceptions of me. The sheriff also started to follow me around for a while after until I did enough good things.

I also never played the first one so I have no frame of reference to compare. One thing that stinks is the online coop. Once a friend joins your game as a henchman, the camera controls get locked down or something - the right stick doesn't work properly. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong yet but it was weird.

Also, I like seeing the other people playing if you turn on everyone in the orb menu. You'll see people's orbs with their gamerpic and name floating by all over the place kinda like an MMO. You can go up to one and interact, such as chat or invite. Saw a lot of Obama and McCain orbs today LOL.

Same here. I've also got Silent Hill: Homecoming which I've barely put a dent into and Star Wars TFU which I haven't even opened, not to mention Fallout 3 which I already paid for. I guess there is such a thing as too many new games to play.

I spent about 4 or 5 hours playing it today and it's been pretty great. I really like not having mana anymore and just being able to cast your spells whenever. Some of the interactions aren't as sensitive as in the first one, like opening treasure chests or talking to people - you have to get right in front of them and square up to be able to interact which is annoying. I think there are just several little things that, if you're used to the first one, will take time to get used to but so far I haven't seen any overwhelming flaws in the game and I'm having a great time playing it.

Well, now that I've been playing a few hours I can see where all the hype came from. The game is great and I still can't get over how good lookin' it is. The controls were a little wonky at first but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. Gotta admit though, I feel a little overwhelmed with just how much there is to do in this game.

Is anyone else experiencing the "abbot glitch" while playing through one of the monk quests? Unfortunately I'm stuck and can't progress through the game. What the fuck?

What do you mean? Just how far are you, so I can get an idea of whether it happened to me or not...

I was able to earn enough renown to escort the first monk, but that's about all I remember having to do with the abbot so if there was more, please remind me.

I've just completed the abbot quest and luckily I didn't get the glitch. The Fable 2 board on GameFAQs has a topic about the various glitches you can encounter... it seems like there's a lot of them that can screw up your game. :( What's also pretty bad is that you can only have one save file, so it's not like you can load an earlier save if something goes wrong.

In spite of knowing that, I'm enjoying the game a lot. It's very similar to the first Fable and there's several references to the first game (some obvious, some not so obvious). The "jobs" you character can take on to make money are actually quite fun; I'm trying to see how much of a multiplier I can build. Combat is better than the first game but I'm still trying to figure out if you can assign certain object to the d-pad (like trophies, potions, etc). There doesn't seem to be anything about that in the manual.

I'm afraid I'm learning that the hard way. Not only can I not progress through the game because of the "donation quest" I'm also stuck between a door and a wall. And yeah, you guessed it, it's saved right at the moment I get stuck. Ugh, and I was having so much fun with Fable. :(

One save file, wtf, how is that even allowed for a modern game.... Was the first fable like that too? I think there is that one mech xbox game, that erases your file if you die, and i also know a ps2 game that does the same thing. The Nightmare of Druaga is the game.

Bah, no big deal. Other games like Gears of War do the same thing.

It is a big deal if you've sunk a lot of time into a game and the sole save file gets glitched or corrupted. You're right though, it's not the only game that restricts you to one save file (Viva Pinata and Ninja Gaiden 2 are other examples that I can think of).

But it would be nice if the developers would at least allow you some kind of backup save, especially with a game as glitched as this one.

Alrighty, so I'm back on track after warping to another town and then coming back to the quest I was originally on. I guess I just can't finish the Monk Donation Quest?

I was tempted to get this the other day but with these glitches I think i'll hold off for a bit. At least until they patch up the major ones.

Beat it last night... It's such a good game and yet at the same time I have so many complaints now that it's over. Where were all the amazing weapons and armor and items (Hero dolls, TONS of books...) that were in Fable? Why is the game so damn buggy? Is it just a sandbox game now that I'm done with the main quest? I mean, I'm just wondering so much stuff about it now. I'm hoping that there will be expansions on XBL, like Oblivion had with the Shivering Isles, but I don't know why that stuff wasn't in the game already. It was so short, and the story was quite a letdown from what seemed to have been set up in the beginning - I thought they were putting the Guild back together, gathering heroes, and the whole works and then you really start questing, but that's it - you get the three heroes and the game's over.

There was enough good stuff in the game to keep me distracted from all this the whole time I was playing it, but now that it's over I'm wondering if I should get the guide to show me what else there is to fill the $60 hole in my pocket.

Haha, this sounds like my impressions of the first one. I enjoyed my time in the game and beat it within days of getting it, but then I realized that it was just kind of empty. I just watched the review on GameTrailers and it does like I should get this after Fallout 3, though.

Also, has anyone read about the achievement issues? This isn't a big deal to me, but I guess a bunch of people are pissed because you can't get a 1000/1000 without Pub Games (which you have to buy). Scandal!

Sounds to me like the typical good game that gets way overhyped. I think I will pass and wait till this one is used for half the price. Maybe then the glitches will get fixed.

I've played it for about 4 hours now, and it is quite good. It isn't as good as Ocarina of Time, which is the obvious game to compare to. I wish there was more combat, but I do like the exploration aspects.

Finished the game tonight and it turned out much better than I had thought it would. I really enjoyed the game and now I'm on the hunt for the legendary treasures and achievements! Speaking of, anyone know where to find some black dye?

Encountered my first Fable 2 glitch today. Walked into a small hole in the ground beside a raised platform and my character was unable to get out again. I tried eveything I could think of but had to resort to quitting out of the quest and lost about 45 minutes of exploration and fighting experience.

:(

Don't know if anyone else has heard about this yet, but if you want to "earn" some quick and plentiful experience:

-Start up your hero, connect a second controller to the 360 and press start. This brings up the co-op screen where you can select a henchman with the second controller. You sign in to another ID but you don't have to load a save file. Then go to the henchman's pause menu and go to the Abilities tab. Sell all of your abilities back and then quit as the henchman. All the unused experience and gold from the henchman gets transfered to your hero when he quits and you can just keep starting new henchman until you have the desired level of experience.

I went ahead and maxed out everything this morning (only had one thing left in Skill and then I was kind of discriminating with my spells to begin with, but I just bought everything since I had more than enough experience).

I'm having fun with it too, and the only glitch that happened to me was it froze randomly one time while running around.
