Just out of curiosity, is there any way to play KOF 95 on a US Saturn? I know it used a proprietary ROM cart, but I was wondering if you start the game with your normal 4 Meg/region key cart and then quickly slam in the KOF ROM cart. Something tells me no, but I just thought I'd ask. I suppose I could internalyl mod my Saturn, but for only two games (KOF 95 and Ultraman) that seems silly. Besides, they're not all that great anyway...

Hey now, I *really* enjoy KOF 95 on the Saturn! ;)

As for your question, I'm not the best to answer this since I just use a Japanese Saturn for my Japanese games, which eliminates all problems. I'd guess that it may be possible for the cart swapping technique to work, but I doubt that it's healthy for the system. To avoid harming your Saturn, I'd say that it's not a good idea... though KOF 95 *is* a good idea.

I would recommend just getting an import saturn.

There's a whole world of great imports for the saturn out there. Worth it to get an import saturn to play them easily. That is, if you are planning on collecting more import saturn stuff. If not, I don't think there is a way to play KoF '95 on a US Saturn because of the dedicated RAM cart it uses.

Nah. Why do that? With my amazing all in on pro action replay cart I can play all imports, have a memory storage cart, a pro action replay, and a ram cart. The only two I can't play are KOF 95 and Ultraman. Hell I even modified it to play Vampire Savior.

Hehe, I dunno, but I think my gray saturn looks way nicer than the US one. The import white saturn is nice too. Import controllers are better than the US counterparts, IMO.

The 4-1 cart is a very nice product, but I kinda hated going through the menus, plus it wouldn't work with Marvel vs Street Fighter. Combine that with the fact that my Saturn collection is 99% imports anyways, so the import was the way to go for me.

Yeah I think that was part of the Vampire Savior problem. Something about newer games and the 4MB RAM. I fixed mine so it works fine.

I have the Ram cart and converter in 1. It switches from 1mb to 4 mb and it works with Marvel vs Streetfighter

I had the same thing, and it wouldn't work with MvSF.

Some carts have trouble with MvSF and Vampite Savior. You have to do a mod which is really simple (just cut one trace and solder one wire). I'll try and dig up the website, but it was only for the 4 in 1 Pro Action Replay cart.

If you really want to play KOF'95 and don't want to buy an import console, you can install a language switch and that will do the trick. you can get info at www.gamesx.com

You can't use the 4 in 1 cart with kof 95, because kof 95 uses the cart as a rom cart, not a ram cart. The cartridge that comes with it has extra textures and stuff on it. You'll definately need the original cartridge to play it.

I just notice this has already been said... hmmm... Maybe I should start paying more attention to the topic before I reply.

From what I udnerstand cart swapping is really bad for the saturn...you can burn out the cart slot itself doing it.

solder a switch to the jumpers that make the system operate in english or japanese. switch it up. marvel at how your american saturn's menu is now in japanese. enjoy playing all your japanese games as if you had a japanese system, without the PAR startup screen. pop in KOF 95 cart. play KOF 95 to your hart's content. repeat until desired level of atrophy is achieved.

I need both the language switch and a KOF '95 cart. King looks particularly good in '95.

...plus the gameplay is good too.

..shut up.

Bah it's not worth it to play one game. I'll play 96 or 97 if I need a KOF fix (I just won 97 actually). I wonder why 98 and 99 weren't released for the Saturn? Were they too big?

They are on the Dreamcast.

perhaps not worth it to play one game, but worth it over all. it's a simple mod, just three points to solder. I usually keep the switch on Japanese, since most of my Saturn games are import, and switch it up for the rare Bust a Move 3 or Astal fix.

PS: plus, kof 95 is a good conversion of the arcade game, especially since it can be gotten off ebay for less than a neo geo cart. 'Tis a good value.
