Sounds like a helluva deal. Makes me wish I had an original Xbox or $50 kicking around. lol.
I wish this was in my area. XD That's a great deal. And there's an ad on CL right now that I'm considering that includes an Xbox (and I haven't agreed to buy it only b/c I don't want to have to try to get rid of the damn Xbox) so that would be perfect for me.
This system was garbage. There was nothing on it worth playing. I got one for $5 at a yard sale once and thought i overpaid. $70? In his dreams.
http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/tag/1180597675.html
$70 for that lot is way more than fair. Just because you don't like a system, that only dictates the price YOU'D pay for it, not what it's worth. I can't walk into a grocery store and buy a can of vienna sausages for a penny simply b/c I "don't like" them. Having said that, probably the only people that would be interested would be collectors or resellers. The Lynx isn't even on-par in most people's minds with the Game Gear, let alone something a casual gamer would want to pick up.
Here's someone who obviously thinks a Wii is impossible to find and can, thus, charge whatever they want: http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/ele/1183021803.html

Here's one that has average prices for what the games are(though he claims it's the cheapest ever!!), but one thing really bothers me with the ad. He doesn't know what one of the games is because there's no label, but why doesn't he just play it to find out?

This is not 7 excellent games. It's 1 okay game, 1 game you can't play with no network adaptor and 5 garbage titles.

I just love people who say something horribly overpriced "won't last long" but what I really love is the people who state "this needs to sell by the end of the week" or whatever on something overpriced. Like, yeah, I'm not buying things according to your deadlines. LOL What difference does it make to me when you think you need to sell something by.

I use craigslist as does my girlfriend to sell things like used text books. But our local video game sales on craigslist suck. All that's ever on is old systems with popular games that are way over priced.

Clearly not, but he'll wrangle every last penny out of it. I wonder if it's that Buybacks game store doing this? Which would make it worse because his cost for everything would be 10% of what he's pricing these at.

Sounds a lot like someone else around here of late...
Also, $130 isn't out of line at all for a NES w/ 20-30 games. Clearly it does depend entirely on what the games are, though, and it is just dumb when people don't take 5 minutes to list titles in ads. I will grant you that the whole 'Super Mario World' thing doesn't lend much credence to him, but who knows, maybe just a brain fart on his part.

The Sega Dork thing is hilarious. Obviously some idiot bought it at a yard sale to turn around for a quick buck but had no idea what they're buying. Morons.
It was bad enough when people went to yard sales and thrift stores to buy stuff to sell on ebay, now they're doing it to sell on CL.

Whoa dude. Tell me to pucker up all you want if it gets your rocks off, but insulting our generous host around here is totally not cool.
The fact is you have posted a few ads in this thread that are as good (well, bad, really) of deals as yours, and without all the BS. You've totally ignored the consensus in your thread about it, despite great advice on how to sell without pissing off your potential customers.
Honestly, you clearly don't respect the forum host, and you don't seem to respect the opinions of people who post here, so I'm not sure why you bother at all.

http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/tag/1192056831.html
I lowered the price of my Genesis bundle to $65. This same ROM selling asshole emails me to chew me out about the price trying to convince me that games have no value. Well of course not! If he'd trying to sell illegal ROM discs for $10 each! Probably can't understand why anyone would buy legit copies when his CD-R ROM discs are so cheap! And yes, I admitted to flagging his ads, so screw him.
Poeple don't like the price, they can drop the hell dead for all I care. I'mnot pandering to some idiot who thinks the lot is worth $30(IE you people, apparently. So, how much trade does the DP store give and how high will they resell it for?)
I also posted my NES game lot. BOTH ads specifically say "local deals only" and "Cash only. Paypal is not cash". Didn't stop some loser jerkstick from MD from emailing me asking to buy and pay by Paypal. Yes, sure, sounds good. Gonna reverse that Paypal payment after I mail the games, buddy? I cursed him out for being that stupid.

Actually, no less than 3 people in your thread on it suggested $60, so you are now in line with that. I also tend to list my stuff on the high side for a couple reasons. I'm patient and don't mind waiting, and a vast majority of people will ask for 5-10 bucks off no matter what the list price is. Sometimes I accept those offers, sometimes not. It depends mostly on my 'inventory'.
You've really gotta give it up with the whole 'b-b-but used game stores charge more! Waaaah' (quivering lip) bit. It is a completely different financial model making any comparisons to us hobbyist sellers totally irrelevant. You've even said yourself that these independent shops are all having to close, so clearly there isn't a simple solution to their challenges.

I think I'm also going to permanently ditch collecting in favor of emulation and modchipping. I see no reason to keep buying up "actual hardware" when its value seems to get cut by 75% the second I own it. I'm through taking a monetary loss on video games and I couldn't give a damn about the financial stability of the companies that make them.
In short, buying up vintage hardware is completely meaningless. I've learned my lesson. I think I'll go trade that Genesis lot in for a whopping $15 RIGHT NOW and atone for my sins of thinking I deserve fair treatment. Let someone else sell it for lots of money instead, they clearly deserve it more than I do!
I seriously mean this. If I buy a used PS1 I'll modchip it. If I buy a 360 I'll mod it. I'm not paying $20-$40 apiece for the games, especially since no one would want to pay me more than $5 apiece for the same titles for some unknown reason.
And as for the craigslist crowd, most of them are idiots anyway. They don't deserve a fair price.

You can check Ebay's completed auctions listings and see how much comparable lots like yours have sold for. It doesn't matter to ANYONE how much YOU spent on something.
As for trade-ins, I never do for the same reason you just mentioned BUT AGAIN you can't compare a store selling an item to some dude on the street selling it. Of course you're going to have to sell things cheaper than a store. Duh.
AND AGAIN you are never going to get anyone to buy anything from you if you act like an ASSHOLE as you have been doing on here AND in your ads. Reading the shit you talk in your ads is enough reason to make ANYONE not want to deal with you.
There are two kinds of people who buy games on CL: those that want them to play and those that are looking to resell. Since you aren't listing your games low enough for a reseller, you'd have to wait for someone who just wants to play the stuff. That takes time AND finesse, something that you've abundantly shown that you lack. NO ONE WANTS TO DEAL WITH YOU WHEN YOU SAY ASSHOLE THINGS IN YOUR AD. You'd probably have sold that bundle by now if you stopped being a dick about it.

I'll admit I am both kinds of people on craigslist. I do resell the stuff I buy but it is not all video games. I try to get deals on other things as well. Lately it has been record lots like the recent one I got from a couple 400 for $40 because they wanted to get rid of it. I parted it out to myself, a few friends and then a record store. The other times I just find random stuff that I want for my personal collection like I am hoping to pick up a Laser Disc Player for $35. I need one to play Pulp Fiction on Laser Disc.

I think you missed the memo; calling someone queer, gay, homo, etc. is not an insult anymore. Unless, you are a bigot, I suppose. Or a pre-pubescent boy. I'm still trying to figure the honkey thing out... where, exactly, do I say anything that sounds honkey? Don't get me wrong, there are lots of great things about honkey (I'd probably say rural) culture, and I've lived in some almost rural places over the years, so I can write honkey if I so choose. There just isn't anything in my posts here that shows a resemblance.

Well, I have this huge classic video game collection. Thing is, I don’t play the games, and it takes up a lot of room that I could be using for my real hobby, salt water aquariums. Most of the collection is NES 8-bit, but there is also an Atari 2600, a Colecovision, a Sega Genesis, and a Nintendo Gamecube. I am going to be posting this on eBay, but I wanted to let someone local have a shot at it. This is not going to be cheap, so please don’t low ball me. I won’t take anything less than $1000.00 cash. There is a complete list of everything except the NES games. The list is too long, but a quick run is; 277 NES games, no duplicates. 23 Atari games 1 duplicate, 10 Genesis games, and 8 Coleco games, and tons of hardware.
Now for the details:
NES: 2 original consoles but only one power supply, 1 top loader, 1 yobo after market unit. 2 D-pads, 2 yobo D-pads, light zapper, power pad, 2 advantage controllers, power glove, Quick shot flight stick, Quick Shot Arcade controller (like the advantage), and 277 games. I will send you the list of games. it is too big to put on here. you will need to have Microsoft Excell to open the list.
Atari 2600: super nice deck, no power supply, original joystick, point master joystick. The games are: Combat, Millipede, Othello, Video Pinball, Asteroids, Coconuts, Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man (2), Frogger, Riddle of the Sphinx, Pole Position, Demons to Diamonds, Bowling, Super Breakout, E.T., Donkey Kong, Pitfall, Kool- Aid Man, Casino, Atlantis, Jr. Pac Man, and Centipede.
Colecovision: all complete. The controllers are iffy. I think the contact points need cleaned. Cool thing about the coleco is, is that Atari and Sega controllers work with it according to the angry video game nerd. Games are: The Heist, Carnival, Smurf, Squish’em feat. Sam, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Montezuma’s Revenge, and Ladybug.
Genesis: 2nd generation w/ one controller. Games: Golden Axe II, Phelios, Battletoads, Mortal Kombat, Sonic Classics (it has 4 games on it I think), Biohazard Battle, T2 (Terminator), Alien3, X-Man, and Battletech.
The Gamecube works, but there is only the unit, no cords, controllers, or games. A friend of mine hooked it up with his stuff, and it worked.
Also, there is a copy of Sonic 2 for the GameGear.
Minimum purchase price is $1000.00 cash. That will be my reserve on eBay. Highest cash offer gets it.

I wish I could find a good working Betamax. I have owned 3. Two Sony's, one Zenith. The Zenith was my deceased Grandmothers and it died a long time ago, one sony has irreparable head damage and the other was perfect. It was a Sony SL-2710 I got for 30 bucks at a thrift shop. Worked fine for 3 days then the video head stopped spinning, permanently.
I have not seen a Betamax deck anywhere since about 2006. Ugh.
I do have 6 LaserDisc players though :D

That is actually the rare "PS2 Station" totally different from the PS2 or PlayStation 2. It is funny how it is "not his thing" but he has two Grand Theft Auto titles and two Hitman titles. If it wasn't your thing after playing one of the GTA titles why buy a second GTA game. Same with the Hitman series, why buy a second title if the first, and the entire "PS2 Station" is "not your thing."

I do that all the time for two reasons: 1) If there's a pic attached w/ the ad, I don't want to take a new pic just b/c someone bought a game or two; 2) I want people to see that I'm selling games at the price I have listed so they don't think they can send me dumb emails about how the game is only worth $1 or whatever, and so if someone wants a game but isn't sure about it will see that I"m selling stuff and will think "damn, I guess I better get off my ass and go get that game or someone else will snatch it up!"

There's a sucker born every minute. That is why prices are so high? I have no idea. I try to keep my prices on whatever I sell a good price for everyone. The reason being because they will come back to me first before they really go looking for themselves. The only things I will sell something really high is cars, or rare video game stuff like I wouldn't sell the Vectrex less then $50 or my NEO GEO AES for a $100. I will keep a high price for those, because even if I don't sell it, my friends and I will play it.
My loss is your gain...I have never said that. I hate that as well, why would you buy something then want to lose money on it within the time you bought it. The ads that I don't get are for like PS3 or 360, pretty much going like this: PS3 for $500 I need to make my car/apartment/food and I need to get rid of it. If you need to make rent on something why buy something expensive? If I have money issues I try to halt my buying until I can be in the clear again. Right now I am cleaning the room out because I am going to be having a garage sale soon and want to thin out the collection as well as I am getting my car repaired soon too. That's my 2 cents...well inflated lets make it $2 bucks.

I'm kinda new on this website but here's my 2 cents on craigslist. I've bought and sold so many times on CL I already lost count. I browse it everyday hoping to pull up some awesome find waiting for me but nope, no dice at all for months except for a slim ps2. Anyway......
I try my best to avoid that horrid website because of how awful the overpricing is. Everybody over here thinks this stuff is worth gold. Let's put all the rare games aside for a minute. This is about common titles and stuff that just isn't worth shit anymore. Here's a summary of what you'll find doing a search in my area -
"NES system. Needs an AC adapter. Comes with super mario brothers 3 and excitebike. $175 firm."
"25 nintendo NES games. Make me an offer. I'll ignore anything stupid"
alright Mr. rockefeller, wanna give me a list of these "games" you have? Or is it gonna take you another 9 hours to get a list because you gotta finish smoking your pipe?
"Original dreamcast system! These are RARE AS HELL! asking $100."
"I have a sega genesis and a super nintendo with 12 games. Everything works great. Make me a reasonable offer. I can get $500 for this right now on ebay so be real."
I respect people who want to get top dollar for stuff but if you are looking for suckers or something like that, it's best you take it to ebay or some other site because craigslist is supposed to be the online garage sale flea market dump bargain basement prices.
Another thing that turns me off for craigslist dealing is how many flakes there are on there. Try buying or selling an item and you'll understand exactly what I'm talking about. Most of the time it takes forever to sell stuff and you get lowballers offering you half your asking price when it's already a good deal to begin with. And you get all kinds of people clogging up your inbox with "i'll take it! i have cash! is it still available?" "is this still available" "do you ship to western africa? i want this for a gift for my son, i pay with wire transfer!" When you reply, you never hear from them again. Trying posting a wanted ad to buy an item. You'll get a few people saying they have it and they'll sell it to you. Right, okay now send an email back asking for a phone number or location and yup, again, no answer. Don't you want my money? What made you suddenly dissapear and not want to reply back to me? Were you abducted by aliens? Have you no consideration for my time after agreeing to hold an item
I have strict rules for craigslist dealings now. Nobody gets a chance at what I sell unless I have a valid phone number or something to make sure the person is legit and serious about buying/selling. It cuts down on alot of the bullshit. I meet people away from my residence because there are alot of shady people out there who you don't want knowing where you live. As for buying I also have a phone # requirements so I can at least speak to the person and see how commited they can be for showing up when agreed and stuff.
People who overprice stuff give us honest collectors a bad name because everyone else thinks, "hey, see that guy, the one who came to our yard sale asking for video games, bet he sells them on ebay for more then he gives us, you know what? let's raise our prices". I mean us guys who just buy stuff to keep and play and don't give a cahoot about the value. Course everyone wants to get those gems. (I do! and cheap while i'm at it!)
I still browse craigslist, everyday actually, but I never hold my breath for anything. Happy hunting.
BTW - If you want an NES for $175-$250 with duck hunt come check the craigslist over here, theres lots of them waiting for you.
