Hey all,
I tried searching but because "RPG" isn't long enough, I failed. Anyway--
I'm looking for suggestions of RPGs that my girlfriend and I could play simultaneously. She's not into gaming on her own but if I bring something up she's always down to try it.
Thanks guys!
The "Tales of..." series have multiplayer real-time battles. Tales of Vesperia just recently came out for 360, so I'd absolutely recommend it if you have one.

not a true "RPG," but Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a lot of fun co-op.

Another vote for the Tales series. And Eternal Sonata has Co-op as well.

Dokopon Kingdom just came out...it's like a crack addled cross between an RPG and Mario Party :)

Eternal Sonata is a fantastic RPG.
Eternal Sonata is a fantastic RPG.
It is! I haven't played it in coop mode though.
Maybe Fable II might be worth a look?

I agree with Eternal Sonata as well. Its out on 360 and PS3 now. Are you looking for any specific system? If you want to get into PS2, I could recommend you a big list of games.

I know you said modern, but I can't let this thread slip by without mentioning Secret of Mana.

You might try the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series.
And, I have to say, all of the suggestions so far - while decent - still don't hold a candle to the original Neverwinter Nights, which IMO is one of the greatest co-op RPGs of all time. Loads of fun to do co-op - an absolute blast.

My wife and I have always been really into the Shin Megami Tensei line of games.
That said, we had a blast playing through Digital Devil Saga 1+2, Persona 3, and Nocturne. Sure, they're a bit advanced, but coming up with strategies for bosses and creating awesome legions of monster teamates was always a blast to do together.
