I just bought a pristine early model Playstation with a modchip installed and was wondering if the chip can be reused in another console if and when this one goes out?

The only issue that might arise, would be between different console revisions. More so with newer consoles, as mod-chips are released, companies revise the system hardware to make the mod-chips more difficult to install.
I think in the case of a PSX mod-chip, there probably would be no issue there.

only reason i could see it not working would be if you damaged it in the uninstall and reinstall process. just be careful while soldering/desoldering and it should work just fine.

Hello all, I still have about 15 4 wire mod chips left for the Playstation (back when I was chipping them).
They work for the 1002
5XXX
7002
7502 Models of the Playstation.
Not sure how much these go for, but if anyone wants one. let me know.
