Hey! Listen!

It's that time again! We (us mods/admins) LOVE the carved Pumpkins. It just gets us in the mood for all the seasonal festivities the rest of the year. So what we'd like to see from YOU is your best works. The rules are simple and there will be voting by the people of DP to decide the winner, and sed winner will recieve a $25 buck Gift Certificate to GameStop and a possible second item if I can get one from the DP store in the winners size.

I know time is short, but good carvers havn't cracked out their pumpkins yet, because they'd already be going bad.

**THE RULES**

* Everyone is elligible (One Entry per name)

* We're a Video Game based forum, lets make these Video Game Themed.

* This Pumpkin must be carved by your hand.

* For it to be entered into the contest, a pic will be needed, this pic will also need your username included in the picture on a card so we know its not being lifted from somewhere.

* Once carved and your picture (with forum handle) has been taken it needs to be uploaded somewhere (personal webspace, photobucket, flikr ect) and then posted here in THIS THREAD. If you can't figure that out, I will help you, PM me for help.

* Pumpkins must be posted in here by MIDNIGHT on 10/30. Once its Halloween (12:01 AM 10/31) submittals are over. Anything posted afterwords will not be accepted. All times are based on MY time zone, Pacific Standard Time.

* Voting will begin Friday (10/31)and go until Sunday (11/02) evening. Where the winner will be announced and all that good stuff. Further voting details will be in the voting thread.

So what if I don't have my pumpkin anymore but have a picture without a card? I trimmed around the picture to just show the pumpkin but I can show you the whole picture of it and my messy house then give you more pictures of the furniture that's in the picture.

Edit: Nevermind, it's not video-game themed.

OK...my son and I were going to carve our pumkin today so we will make sure to post a picture. Dont expect too much, my son is 4 and I am creatively challenged.

If nothing is posted by the time I get off of work, I am going to make a quick one of something, like mario or something.

I wasn't planning on carving anything, but since there is a lack of interest, I guess I will carve 1.

I know you said 1 entry, but I am not sure what I am doing yet, can I have multiple pumpkins in 1 entry?

Oh yeah, I have never carved a pumpkin before outside of a crappy jack o lantern face, so, hahaha, it might take me a couple times.

Also, if there are no more entries after me, then can I post some in here for fun that are outside of the contest as long as I am very clear it is not a contest pumpkin (like I said, I am creative but have never carved a pumpkin before, but know the basic principles, and the disaster pumpkins would be funny)?

EDIT: Ok, I got some awesome stuff to carve after. Hopefully I don't royally mess it up. I was just going to use an exacto knife on these.

Here is something my son(he is 4) and I just finished. The hardest part, taking a picture that showed up.

I just noticed you live in California. Hell yeah, that means that I was not late (stupid losing power for 3 hours). That makes me happy. Whether I win or not (that simpsons one is insane, really good), I will say that it was super fun to do.

EDIT: I have never carved a pumpkin before, but definately game related. A little bit of some Super Sonic for that ass
I posted these literally right when I got done. You can see the shards of pumpkin laying around.
Little did I know, I had to trim the back too.
And yes, I made my own stencil and literally did the entire thing with exacto knives and extra razor blades.

Sorry about the crappy camera shots, my main digi cam ran out of batteries and I had to use my roommate's blackberry.

Well we got a few more in 'in time'. Including a new posters first post. Not too shabby!

I'm going to break my rules a little and do a Final Call on pumpkins. Any others that might have missed the cut?

I really wanted to carve something this year but didn't have time. Anyway those that were posted look good, especially the simpsons one.

There are a ton of Simpson's games. Simpson's Hit & Run, Simpson's Road Rage, The Simpson's Game, Simpson's wrestling, Simpson's Skate Boarding, a few simpson's NES games, along with several others.

The person who carved that is obviously very skilled. Looking at their post count, their a ringer. ;) Hands down one of the coolest pumpkins ever!

I used to date a chick that I used as a ringer for darts. She was a short red haired chick (as in she is not tall, not her hair is short), and she was hot. I would play doubles at bars with me and her and she would sit there and hit on the people that played darts to mess them up, plus she could throw.

Ringers are cool.

I think that the point Cornelius wanted to make was what video game was the Halloween themed Simpsons stuff from.

Simpson's Hit and Run also had a huge halloween level as well.

Well, sure, but wouldn't the carving have to represent something from a particular game? Was there a Simpsons game where Homer is dressed as Death? I'm not trying to be a PITA, but well, a carving of, say Mickey Mouse wouldn't really be a video game entry in my book, unless there was something to give some context. A cape, for instance.

I think the pac-man haunted house is pretty bitchin', but that Dig Dug gets my vote (are we voting?)

Hey PapaStu, I work until 5pm Central, would that be too late to show you how i finished mine up last night?

I was going to do it last night, but I forgot that you were in california, so literally right when I got done doing the carving part, I took pictures and sent it to you (which you can easily tell from the pumpkin shavings all around it). I put some details on it, but never took the pics.

Hence the reason why you can tell what it is, but the middle looks like it was left out. It was because I drew it in.

If it is too late, no big deal, but I am not redoing my stuff or anything, in fact, it is already done, I just need to get batteries from the gas station for the camera, hehehe.

Yeah, if it is cool, let me know, but if you say too late, please let me know so that I can avoid an unneccesary trip to anywhere to buy batteries.

Right on bro.

If I miss it, no big deal. I did this all for fun anyway, but I figured you guys might as well see the finished product.

I will try to get the pics posted as fast as possible after work, and if you get to your place before mine, well then just use what I posted. Besides, I think the Hoff likes mine.

here it is

I drew that on super late at night when I was dead tired, hahaha

I should note so that it makes more sense and gets that piece of, "ah, ok" that just to the right of his face is his hand.

http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/5320/1000578fs4.jpg

So I say use this pic and the pic where it is all super dark so that you can see how it looks during the day, and when the lights are off.

Heh. Thanks! I only found out about the contest about 8 hours before the entry period closed. I spent 1 hour of that driving around town looking for the perfect pumpkins. This was made JUST for this contest :D
If I had seen this posting earlier, I could have probably 'carved' something a bit better, but for this year, I'm hoping to win on sheer creativity ;)

Dig Dug FTW. I've always liked painted pumpkins better anyway, cuz they last longer. If you don't inflate them, that is.
