If this was made, please lock this one.

I just made this one because the GHWT topic turned into RB2, so I figured the RB2 peeps could get their own thread.

Leaving off from the last thread:
http://drumrocker.com/

Wow. Somebody posted that, and thanks, I got a boner at work.

Good call on the new thread.

I'm with you on wanting the Ion but honestly unless you are planning on actually using it as an electric kit it's not a whole lot different than the normal set with the cymbal add-on. I myself am going to pass for the time being and hope to find one for ~$100 later on (shouldn't be too hard).

Yeah, I will end up getting it before Black Friday (I got RB1 last year the week after it came out, before Black Friday).

I think that RB2 is going to be a much bigger hit than RB1. I say that because RB1 was out for awhile, and it came out for long enough for people to know what the hell it is now besides us internet jockeys.

I want one for the holiday season, and can afford to be impatient, hehehe.

I think you are right on the ion drum set. I thought I got a premium version of rb2 where it was the drum set and the rest of the instruments along with the game for 300. I would have done that. I will happily accept the cymbal add-on for it instead (plus it's Mad Catz, its not like they have some crappy no name 3rd party making the cymbal add-on). I will say that I could see myself just playing around in freestyle. Even with just the cymbal add-on.

I did play rb2 at a microsoft dev conference here a few weeks back, and it is super fun. they had all instruments setup, but no cymballs. obviously i had no clue until you guys informed me.

Dude, people can enjoy their GHWT all they want, but rb2 is going to be awesome (plus I have around 20 or 30, maybe 40, songs that I have paid for and downloaded for rb1).

I checked the Mad Catz website and the cymbal set is coming out at the end of this week (halloween). Dude, that is so awesome that they did that. Hahaha, I bet red octane got a little surprise when harmonix revealed that it was not only doing cymbals, but it has 3. I do think they are doing 3 just for competing purposes.

There is nothing wrong with it though. This healthy competition is awesome.

GH was the big dog for, what, since gh1 came out. Now they got some competition and need to up the ante, which means in the end, we win.

I love this competition stuff.

Well here is something too though:
Cymbal add-on or no, which songs natively support it?

By that, I mean it is super possible for me to be playing a song and hit a cymbal when not needed and then it sounds like buttcheeks, or do you know if for songs, you just choose or something. I know, since I saw that vid, in freestyle and stuff you can use them all, but how compatible will they be?

I think it's funny that Guitar Hero's competition is it's own creators. Harmonix moved on to bigger and better things, Guitar Hero franchise has to catch up.

I see you got rb2. you get special edition?

if you did, you going to get the cymbal pack this friday?

I am going to end up starting a new band. I tried to make the characters from the gorillaz, but when i was the only dude in the band, it didn't work out so well.

I didn't get the cymbals and probably wont, but if they start selling the bass pedals separate then I'd probably get one for double bass.

Just eBay it.

The one thing that I still don't like about the pedal is that the spring is too tight. It needs to be way looser, because when I put my foot down, I have to try way too hard and it ends up hurting my calf after like 4 or 5 songs.

I did luck out in that I already have rb1, so I will probably end up keeping the pedal out for double pedal action.

Something small, but I know the band name because the lead singer, yeah, she is pretty hot.

47. Paramore “That’s What You Get” 2000’s

That song is on the main rb2 setlist. she is promoting ghwt. i am not saying anything, i think it is funny. Hey, i would do both, not that way perv, but I would be in both games.

Here is something else that is super needed from mad catz:
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Microphone-Stand-Xbox-360/dp/B001B156HY/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1225141758&sr=1-10

it retails for 19.99

Tool doesn't want virtual characters playing their songs so when you play them in Guitar Hero it's in some special tool arena with poorly animated ghost things flying around. No characters or anything. booo

No big deal, it's not like Tool is GOOD or anything. Seriously, i'd more or less would want REAL music on there, like LED ZEPPLIN.

This topic is going to end up resembling Rockband.com's forums if we don't take action now.

I took the spring out and cut a coil off of it an that helped a bit. Just make sure not to cut off too much because you still need some spring travel.

Cymbal add-on or no, which songs natively support it?

This is a good question and one I haven't seen an answer to yet. I'm sure all of the songs will support cymbals, I just don't know how they are handled. I'm guessing that they will just act like the pads, so you can hit a cymbal but make a tom sound. This kind of sucks because it ruins the immersion. I wish they would have had some sort of "cymbal indicator", like smaller notes or something, a la hammer-ons. Maybe they could patch that in later?

Also, it seems that GH uses a five-pad setup for drums, so although your RB2 drums will work on GH, they might not work correctly. If this is the case then I think I'll just skip GH alltogether. There's no way I'm having three drum sets in my apartment.

Yeah, I am going to end up with 2, and that is more than enough.

I don't know how the rockband.com forums are, but I am assuming it is just flaming one game or another.

So yeah, you guys can go there to flame about rock band 2 or ghwt.

if you want to chat about ghwt, there is a thread for it, as it this 1 i started.

flamers/trolls can shut their lips.

well me and my friends are in love with this game. me and the gf went out and got the rb2 bundle along with a used copy of rb1 for ourselves as an early xmas present, since we figured that they'd be a bit harder to find right after the holiday, plus it was only $168 at sam's club.

i'm sure i'll also get that three symbol set eventually, but my main concern right now is to get another guitar so all of us can play at once. though i'm torn between the mad catz custom bass or the guitar hero 2 guitar/gh III game that's on sale at redoctane today. i'll probably just end up with the gh2 guitar as even with shipping, it's still $20 cheaper than the bass.

I would opt for the GH 3 guitar over the 2 model. I have 2 Xplorers and I can't use either one because they are too sensitive and have kickback. The Les Paul seems much more forgiving in that regard, plus it's wireless. Oh, and it looks a lot cooler too!

I just ordered my cymbals today (pre-ordered from amazon) and ordered a mic stand.

i play bwt on rb1 solo, and the mic on the xbl headset really sux for rb, so I got the mad catz mic stand too (this was all free thanks to a b-day gift card for amazon i had not used yet).

I figured that if I wait until I get my cymbals in the mail, then I will go out and buy rb2 (unless my cymbals have a chance of coming after or on black friday).

anybody know the deal with when the triple cymbals are really coming out?

I pre-ordered the triple cymbals from amazon, and they were slated for 10-31, then got pushed back to 12-5, and now it is showing 11-30.

This is all within the past 5 days, but the double came out already.

Anybody know about these and when they will come out?

No idea on the triple. I have the dual set which set me back 30 bucks. Pretty neat (I hate all these shiny colors though red yellow etc!) also I'm having trouble getting them to stay put during play can't seem to get em tight enough

They should include them with the drums, or make them cheaper

Just want to say I have both RockBand 1&2 as well as GH:WT. I like the GH:WT setlist better, however I enjoy everything else about Rockband 2 better. I love this game, so much more I dont play much else. I have been watching all day for my email for the 20 DLC, can't get here quick enough. Last night I strolled into Walmart around midnight and they had just recieved the AC DC trackpack. So needless to say, I did not leave empty handed. I have not played through all of it yet, but I really am enjoying it.

Rock on!

Well I picked up the Mad Catz Fender bass instead of going with the Les Paul or Xplorer, and I must say, the dedicated bass is the way to go if you don't already have a second guitar. Especially since (in my area at least) both retail for the same $69.99 price tag.

The only drawback about it, is it is wired, wich I think is a bit lame since the thing is 70 bucks, but since I got the RB2 set only this and the mic are wired so there are plenty of ports for everything, and the cord is a decent length, though not as good as the mic's cord. But other than that everything else about it is great. The buttons feel nice and the split strum bar actually does make a difference and make strumming a bit easier (and cooler) on the harder difficulties.

Thought a word to the wise for anyone who gets one, the "battery flap" on the back doesn't do anything. I nearly broke mine trying to pry it off before realizing that it must be purely cosmetic. Why? I don't know. But there is nothing in the instructions about it, so it must be just for show.

Ok, so the triple pack of cymbals should, hopefully, be coming out on 11/30.

Within like 5 days, it jumped from 10/31 to 12/5 and then down to 11/30. It has been almost a week and they have not moved from 11/30.

I pre-ordered it.

I also ordered this:

You guys see my gamertag. anybody that has rb1 needs to look for my gamertag tonight. I will be singing and playing guitar at the same time.

rb2 will come tomorrow!

Have you had a chance to try out the mic stand yet? Seems cheap enough that it's worth taking a shot on, but I don't think they are all that expensive to begin with.

I tried it out yesterday. Worth $20.

Let me repeat, worth $20. Don't expect something amazing, but it works. It is not bad at all for $20

It is cheap, but very well built. almost all of it is metal, so it won't break anytime soon.

Also, to get myself excited, check out this pwnage on freestyle mode, insane!

That feature was available pre release!

I don't know about XBLA, but on PS3 you need to purchase the license transfer in the PSN store ($5), then pop in your Rock Band 1 disc and under options you'll be able to write all the songs out to your HDD (exept for Run to the Hills, Enter Sandman, and one other I'm not remembering ... which sucks if you're a fan of those two, I'll miss Run to the Hills.)

Hmm, I'll have to look into that again. I didn't see anything on XBL but maybe I missed it.

As for the mic stand, is there any reason not to just go to the local music store and buy one for less there? I mean, does it offer any specific Rock Band functionality (don't know what that would be)?

The 2 console specific things that the rock band mic stand has is the cord holder and the controller holder. The cord holder is just a little clip, but quite frankly, a godsend. It keeps the cords neer the stand.

Also, there are clips for all 3 controllers (ps3/ps2, 360, wii). My 360 clip broke in one place, but that is the joy of having kids around. The kid stepped on it, but it can stand a 50 pound child before it breaks.

Also, awesome news, my triple cymbals are on the way. They will arrive on 12/8 (this coming monday). I have had them pre-ordered since way back when they were supposed to come out way back in late October. They must have went quick, because I checked on Amazon and they are gone from there.
