EA will use the for donating proceeds from the cover spot sale to the United Way, the NFL's charity of choice.

I think EA donating the money to charity will give EA a public image.

Will they do a separate sale to replace the "Madden" in the title?

Maurice Jones-Drew 2010 ftw.

I think A-Rod should buy the spot...I think it'd be funny

Watch no one bid because no one wants to get injured next season.

Maybe nobody will do it. After all, LT wasn't offered enough to do it.

I think they're right - the cover athlete doesn't make a difference in sales. Not only would they look good donating money to a charity, but they'd save money to boot by not actually paying the cover guy.

Cool idea.

I hope they don't bid, because then I would bid like 5 grand and my crappy ford explorer and take a cover shoot of me sitting on the couch drinking soda and getting fat.

As good of an idea as EA has, I can't say I wouldn't be all for something absurd to happen. I am a fan of irreverent comedy, after all. And, hey, no matter what happens the charity gets the money, right? So Richard Simmons on Madden all the way!

Though it would be funny if John Madden bid for the sake of getting his damn cover back.

So if we all pooled our money together they could do a group shot of the DP gang.....well, they could if our entire pooled resources didn't only add up to $27.42. Oh wait....thats MY life savings. So together we still have a chance:)

Madden should have many covers each with a different player from each team sold mostly in those cities. Sport collectors might go nuts trying to collect them all !!

This is actually a pretty interesting idea.

I know if they did this with the NHL games I'd be tempted to get them all.

One company did something very similar at least in Europe, where they repackaged the same football game with various popular football clubs, so the supporters could get "their" team on the cover...

Have a few short printed teams and it might even make collecting old sports games fun !

I'm just saying, if any NFL team out there is smart, they owuld pool their money and put a back up kicker on the cover.

I say they should do something like the Super Bowl MVP or the winning team can pick a person on their team for the cover.

Or bring back Madden. It would be fun to continue the chronicling of Madden's fight with obesity.

Better yet. Get back to the old days of games like "NFL Football" on NES or stuff like Double Dribble where there's a nice collage of art work on the cover instead of a crappy action photo pulled form an issue of SI.
