Ahhh, MAGfest! the event I really, really want to go too!

Too bad for me since I don't got the money and transportation to get there, I would love to go though. It would be amazing.

Dude. We have ride and room sharing built into your forum profile on the site. You're only in NJ! Definitely try to use those facilities, loads of people are just dying to help share costs.

"You might have to go outside!"

I believe that picture was taken at MF6 when a fire alarm went off and damn it was cold out there! All toasty inside so I was wearing shorts when we had to evacuate.

But yes, been registered with MrMAGFest and reserved a hotel room back in early August. There's a couple of us heading up from the Hampton Roads and Richmond area. If anyone on the DP boards needs a lift just let me know!

If Magfest is even half as cheesy as that video then I will be staying far far away, lol. I haven't been to Magfest since the first one and I would love to return(provided it's no longer 5 hours away).

It's inside the D.C. beltway. From my house it's over 4 hrs straight there.

The first Magfest was in Roanoke Va and that is 5 hours from here. The DC beltway area shouldn't be any more than 3 hours with traffic and I hope I'm over exaggerating that time.

I'll be there again this year. :) Just booked my room yesterday. Looking forward to a good time and lots of insanity. :P

Me and a friend are thinking about going to this. Is it worth going to for one day though. That would be all we could attend.

Totally! It's a 24hr party so you can come and go whenever on any day, though I'd suggest Thurs/Fri/Sat as Sunday will be a bit short if you just do a one-day.

It's over for now. I hope everyone enjoyed the show. Lets go MAGFest VIII!

I'll add some pictures once i get them from friends cameras and have some developed. Good times and the Nibbler bit was awesome. Here's an article:

Last MAGfest I attended was M4. It was a great show then, but this year I couldn't believe all of the changes that had taken place and how the show had grown to its current size in content and attendance.

I've never had so much fun at a convention period and I made a lot of $$$ as a vendor too.

I really regret not attending Wed night and Thursday...

MAGfest was pretty dang awesome. :) Even though we mainly go just to meet up with online friends, I was really impressed with how much the convention itself has improved. Last year there really wasn't much that interested me beyond the concerts. This year they had a better equipped concert hall, a better assortment of arcade machines, better vendors, and some interesting industry guests. I just wish I wasn't so burned out by Saturday and could've seen more of the industry composers. It was really cool to see Walter Day there and have the Nibbler Championship going on too. Seems like it was a last minute addition, though, as I didn't hear anything about it beforehand. I would've brought my King of Kong to be signed if I had known, and I didn't see much of the championship since nothing about Twin Galaxies was on the schedule. Oh well, at least I got Howard Drossin's autograph.

Oh, and I just put two and two together and realized you were the import dealer, 16-bit. I was the girl hanging out with Audi from Norway. Thanks for the deal on Super Robot Taisen 64. :)

Has anyone seen DogP? DP has his last login for 05-03-2008 and some others at MAGFest were asking about where he's been and couldn't reach him for the past months. Hope nothing bad happened.

Doh... it looks like I'm missing all kinds of good gaming events (MAGFest, VGXPO, TMG) :( ... it sounds like everyone had a great time. I started a new job earlier this year which has been keeping me really busy and having me travel quite a bit (I was out of town for the MAGFest week). I used to do all my forum browsing at work, but I can't do that anymore... I gotta drop by here at least to keep updated on the upcoming events!

I am currently getting pictures developed at Target from a Kodak camera. I'll be picking up the printouts and a CD so I'll be posting them tomorrow along with some low rez camera phone shots. One of my friends brought a good camera along, but I haven't heard from him since last weekend so I'll be calling him tomorrow or during the week. There's an arcade meet-up next Saturday so that'll be the latest I see him again.

So I picked up the pictures today and am not too suprised they turned out bad as I was burning through film that expired in 2004. Here are the better 3 MAGFest pictures:

Tim McVey (Nibbler world champion) and I hanging out in the lobby.

Walter Day (Twin Galaxies) and a friend in the arcade area.

The MAGFest '09 custom cab MAME machine.

I'm hoping to get some better pictures sometime soon, but chances are other, better pictures will be on the Web sooner. Next time I'll be sure to bring a digital camera, didn't think I'd take many pictures and be worried about quality until I got there. :(

And here are some pictures from my cell phone:

There were some guys from North Carolina that brought in a bunch of machines. Here are 3 Astro City machines. There were 2 verus along another wall.

Here's their Capcom machine with a Naomi next to it.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c196/cyberfluxor/artwall.jpg
I don't know who did this but several people quickly setup this wall and someone began drawing on it. I came back by a while later and this was all drawn! Pretty awesome and I'm sure there will be a better picture found elsewhere considering how many were taken by others.

On a side note, there were two Street Fighter IV boards brought into the game room and setup on an HD TV. It was a nice setup and must say it was a good experience to see that game in action.
