i have had some success backing up my tg16 cd originals but with mixed results.some burns work once or twice and not the next or sometimes work.i have tried many methods including different burners and recording programs but most fail.i have an original tg16 and cd addon and have heard the that turbo duos read backups better.is this true? i have also heard that you should use 650mb cdrs. todays cdrs are say 700mb. are these the same and does it make a difference?
any help will be just super
thanks

The speed at which you burn usually makes the most difference for older drives. Unfortunately most modern CDRs (or DVDRs) don't burn lower than 16x... and most blanks sold don't burn that slow either!
If you can find yourself an old CDR (probably in a junk pile of old computers) and some older jewelcase blanks that'd be your best bet.

Hey MoreGames,
Welcome!
My first question regarding making backups would be, what speed are you recording at (as skaar mentioned)? When I first tried to make a backup years ago, I heard that you should not use a fast recording speed. I didn't want to wait so long I used the 72X recording speed, but when I tried to play it, it didn't work. I then tried a slower speed (about 4X) and the backups have worked since then.
Regarding the CD media, you can use 700 Mb disks. They will work, but the technology is slightly different. That means there may be some issues further in the future, if you play a lot of backups and for a long period of time. Of course, using any CDR, whether it is 650 Mb or 700 Mb, isn't as good as the original disks, it just depends how cautious you want to be.
Regarding the Turbo Duo playing backups better than the CD add on, I haven't heard anything like that. Hopefully, someone else can answer that particular question.

burned cds differ completely from professional cds which are stamped. the amount of light reflected off the disc is several magnitudes smaller than a stamped disc. Certain brands of discs have better reflectivity ill try to find the old post about sega cd backups that details what brands people think are the best.
