I just read in an article that this clear game boy is rarer than the normal color game boy. I have one. Is it actually worth much?

Not really.

Worth about as much as the other original Gameboy models.

it's more rare in the sense that they didn't make 6 bajillion of them like they did the standard model. That doesn't mean there aren't roughly 5.75 bajillion of them out there.

apart from two(?) Astro boy themed models others aren't worth much.
sure light version does fetch more than non-light version but still they all are relatively easy to find...

Ah yes, the Play It Loud series of original Gameboys. They were launched very late in the original bricks life, around 1995, very shortly before the launch of the pocket in 1996. They may not be very valuable, but they are for sure alot rarer then the gray brick.

As a side note, you could buy these new for <80 bucks and they came in a plastic case with sunglasses.

Because nothing is more rad to the max than a pair of cheap sunglasses that came with your Game Boy LOL
