I didn't really see a true thread for this so here's my thoughts.
I'm picking up a playchoice 10 tomorrow. What do ya'll think the best games are?
The ones I'm going to try to find are:
Goonies
Super MArio 1 & 3
Metroid
Contra
Super C
1942
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2
R.C. Pro-am
Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers
I'm going to also see about a Nintendo super system soon too, but not sure of games for it.

Playchoice 10 games are simply NES games correct? I'd just go for which NES games you enjoy. I think Goonies was the only one not released in the US. Personally I want one of those Nintendo VS machines because those games are actually a bit different sometimes.

Actually I already got a vs with Gradius and Goonies. Don't see any change with them. Plus I have an extra Dr. MArio.

PC10 games can be had pretty cheaply, in my experience. Just choose your favorite NES games that came out on PC10. Keep a bunch in storage so you can change them out when you get sick of them. COntra is a necessity, though. ;)

It depends on how faithful the NES port is. Playchoice = NES. Vs. ___ = arcade.
Example: Excitebike NES/Playchoice are both missing the bonus rounds found in the Vs. (true arcade) version.

It depends on the VS game. Some are very different (such as the levels in VS Super Mario Bros.) while some have some extra graphics (VS Ice Climbers) and some just have an extra bonus round or two (VS Excite Bike). I think the changes in the VS games make them more valuable than the Playchoice 10 games as those are almost literally the same game.

There's no such thing as a Vs. Playchoice game. There are Vs. games and there are Playchoice (NES) games. The two are not interchangeable.

Oh...and can anybody actually explain whats so great about playchoice? Once again...same games...except your standing up and playing on tiny screen...limited selection too.
Yea...not trying to rip on people who collect/play PC-10 games, but where is the appeal? It's just NES games w/timers. As a kid seeing those machines was cool in arcades because you'd get to play a game you didn't have (these pre-dated rental stores in my area). In the year 2008 I see appeal for VS. games, just not Playchoice.

Since I own both a playchoice, punchout, and a versus. I just like the feeling of all three games as I enjoy having arcade games. I didn't even know there was differences in the some of the vs and regualar nes games until I started this thread. I just like the feel and look of the arcade cabinet.

The only time I played Playchoice was to play the original Maro Bros., no super. I played most the other games at home and Punch-out I always sought out the nice dedicated cab. Mario Bros. was fun to play at the cade.

I recently sold the game "MEGA-MAN 3" for the PC-10, here at DP to another member...Apparently it is a bit rare, it was an official CAPCOM PC-10 realeased game too, at least mine was.....

Hey, I was working with the playchoice yesterday and found a rush'n attack board. It doesn't work, but I heard the chips usually have problems and you can replace them. Is that true? Or is there an easier way to fix the board.

The only way to know if the "chips" are defective is to dump the contents of the chip and run a compare against a known good file for that chip. If it doesn't pass the compare, then there is a corruption in the contents of the chip. I have diagnosed many boards that way. Once I find a bad chip, I burn a new one.
It is a start but there may be other things wrong on the Playchoice PCB.
Did you try taking out all the games and running Rushin Attack by itself? If is doesn't work in slot 1, insert the playchoice game pcb into another slot.

I moved it to another slot and same problem. I don'thave anything to dump the chips and compare them, but may buy a new set when I get some additional cash. Also need to work on playchoice buttons first too.
