I'm not sure what triggered this memory, but I remember as a kid seeing a plain white particle board arcade cabinet in Toys'R'Us which was designed for the NES. I think it was on sale for $99. It had a shelf to hold your TV and I beleive the control panels were wired with arcade style sticks. There was also a shelf to hold the console. Anybody recall such a beast? I didn't see it listed in the DP guide and I know for sure it wasn't a licensed product.

I remember it. I can't recall if it is a licensed product, but I can check on it for you. I believe there were pictures in Nintendo Power magazine.

You're thinking of Pro Play Home Arcade. It used to retail for $300 but it didn't do well because it was huge, could only take up to 25" TV, and the controller wires are very filmsy (something like 36 gauge) plus there were only one set of Start and Select so some 2 players game wouldn't work right. Finally, no auto fire or slow mo.

I have been looking for one of these for years, I have posted on Deja many times and in this forum as well. The only information I could find on it was an order form out of a magazine, which I tried to contact the company but it is no longer in business. I also found a page where some guy had turned one into a MAME cabinet. The only person I found who had one has a well known online game store.
If anyone has any info on where I can get one pls let me know. Thnx

Cool. That's it. Now I know I'm not going crazy (well about this anyway).

I remember thinking this was crazy when I asked the clerk about it way back when because the conversation went like this, "$299! you got to be kidding me, that TV is to small!" Clerk, "Actually the TV is seperate"...

I was just wondering if your search for a real Pro-Play Home Arcade was still going on? If it is, I might be able to help you get one. Drop me an e-mail and let me know. E-mail is mohlrich63@yahoo.com. Thanks
