Usually Nintendo has multiple releases that have me excited during the Christmas season, however I am not sure anything notable is coming out by the first party between now and Christmas, with the Exception of Animal Crossing Wii.
No Kirby Wii, No Kid Icarus Wii, no notables like last year's Super Mario Galaxy for the month of November or Early December. Even on the DS I am struggling to find titles that are being released. Does anyone have any others they can add? I will edit this list as info comes in.
Wii
Animal Crossing: City Folk w/ Wii Speak Microphone - November 16th

The Milestone Shooting Collection Looks good. It is coming out in December. In fact it is the only reason I would get a wii right now.

What about Disaster: Day of Crisis?

I'm not too concerned, I can catch up on the games I bought and haven't played yet (Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime 3).
Actually, this lull comes at just the right time, since I don't have a lot of cash to blow on games this year.

The console itself still sells like hotcakes, and I was reading an article somewhere (I think Game Informer) where they were talking about how the new Wii owners all either buy the 5 good games or are sated with the shovelware. Something tells me Nintendo is less interested in satisfying their existing install base and more concerned with expanding their potential market share. They're still gonna sell a ton of consoles.
If they were concerned about competing with the other 2 machines they would have delayed Mario Kart till about now or something. Just more evidence that Nintendo isn't even really in the same market as Sony and MS, and are aiming at a different audience.

What about Disaster: Day of Crisis?
Reggie doesn't think it's a worthwhile title to bring to the US: http://www.gamepro.com/article/news/207702/disaster-day-of-crisis-is-not-worth-50-reggie-says/
Furthermore, most of the "good" Wii titles aren't coming out until 2009. Thats when we'll get The Conduit, Punch-Out and Sin and Punishment 2. Until then....:(

I suppose unless the game sells better in Europe and/or our economy improves (allowing us not to have to choose between games and rent payments) it might not show up. Which is a shame, because from what I've seen I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Ugh. I've been wanting that game since before the Wii launched. Not worth $50? Then price it lower.
It's not like the reviews have been horrible. Famitsu gave it a 31 and IGN UK gave it an 8.

Ha, good one.
I'm right there with you.
My friend, who is a fairly hardcore gamer (whoops ass at Geometry Wars 2) was raving about Wii Music months before its release, and preordered it. Now he's raving about how cool it is, and brags about his killer renditions of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I try not to laugh when he mentions it. Just nod and smile.

Hmm, maybe some of the early fall releases?
de Blob
Sam & Max: Season One
Samba de Amigo
Wario Land: Shake It!
de Blob seemed to be the best reviewed. It's slim pickin's this holiday and I'm glad I also have a 360. On the WiiWare front World of Goo seems to be getting great reviews though...
On the DS front Populous DS could be great, and of course there is Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, but it seems like Rhythm Heaven, Professor Layton 2 and Retro Game Challenge are not coming to 2009...
Cheers,
Ben

I think GrandAmChandler was referring to first-party releases only. If that's the case, then Wii Music, Wario Land: Shake It!, and Animal Crossing: City Folk are the choices...not horrible, but not Ocarina of Time, either.
Taking third-party games into consideration, there are some good ones:
Wii:
de Blob
Dokapon Kingdom
FIFA Soccer 09 All-Play
Guitar Hero: World Tour
Lego Batman
Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars
MySims Kingdom
Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 2
Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party
Rock Band 2
Sam & Max: Season One
Sonic Unleashed
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Lightsaber Duels
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2009
WiiWare:
Art Style: Orbient
Art Style: Rotohex
Bomberman Blast
Groovin' Blocks
Mega Man 9
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 3: Baddest of the Bands
Tetris Party
World of Goo
I know it might not be the most exciting holiday line up, but it's solid and there are several highly rated gems so far (Guitar Hero: World Tour, MySims Kingdom, de Blob, World of Goo, Mega Man 9, Tetris Party, etc.). Maybe there will be a few more A+ titles in that list, too. I'll be watching the reviews during the next few weeks.
On the WiiWare front World of Goo seems to be getting great reviews
Yes, I downloaded World of Goo about a week-and-a-half ago and it's fantastic! It's unlike any other puzzle game I've ever played. Great strategy involved, great art direction, lots of different levels, etc. It's not like Tetris or Dr. Mario where the player constantly does the same thing. In World of Goo, there are different objectives and strategies in each level.
My girlfriend and I beat it together and will play through it again to try to get a higher score. It's well worth $15 and I highly recommend it.

Stay far far away from Samba De Amigo.
It's broken on any difficulty level above normal/medium.

Hmm, well, third parties have always had a gripe that their releases were always overshadowed by Nintendo's own games. Now they've got a whole holiday season practically to themselves.

Too bad there aren't really any stand-out third party Wii games this holiday season, either.

I thought what Nintendo's been doing for the past 8 years is releasing one major game between February to May, June to August, and September to January, so each game sells really well. And sometimes it's different, maybe only two major games in a year, Mario Kart Wii and Animal Crossing: City Folk for this year.

You forgot about Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
