My TG16 isn't receiving power. The AC power cord is working properly, however, when I turn on my TurboGrafx it simply does not receive any power. Nothing comes up on the screen, no red light indicating power, etc. TG16 i've heard can be a difficult system to diagnose. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might try to get this system back up and working again. I have access to a solder gun, so if anyone thinks re soldering certain wires may help, please let me know. I'm running out of Idea's here. Thanks.
Things to Know:
RF Adapter works.
Power Supply Cord works.
All wires on the circuit board seem to be intact and soldered.

Have you looked at the voltage regulator yet? It's the component that's hanging off in the lower right corner. Try testing it with a multimeter and if you're not getting 5 volts from it, it's time to get a replacement. IIRC, the TG-16 uses a 7805 which is an extremely common part.

Could also be the fuse. Check that one also.

How would I go about checking to see if its the fuse? Sorry I don't know much about repairing systems. Thanks.

Also, quick note, the Voltage Regulator at first was heating up, and getting pretty warm, now it won't heat up at all, possibly blew or just isn't receiving any juice? Trying to conclude that it is in fact the voltage regulator. I don't have a multimeter so I can't tell how many volts it's receiving.

Check to see if there is continuity. You can also check for resistance.
If the multimeter marks 0 ohms (resistance), the fuse is good. If it says 1 or infinite, the fuse is bad and needs to be replaced.

Are you sure the power supply is working? You said your voltage regulator isn't warming up, like it isn't getting any 'juice.' If it isn't getting any juice, that could be because there is a problem with the adapter.
Have you tried the AC adapter on something else to see that it functions and continuously?

Yes I have, tried it on my SG, worked just fine.

If the voltage regulator isn't getting warm at all, that's not a good sign. I'd go ahead and replace it before you look at anything else, considering how cheap it is to replace one.

Is it just me or is that PCB missing stuff?

Sure, but look on the bright side: it has the ass-end of a controller plug still stuck in it.
(I'd guess it was a later model with consolidated parts)
