Hey guys,
We're putting together a pretty awesome party at Barcade in Brooklyn that I wanted to tell you about. The LoveSac NES Classic will pit gamers against each other in series of speedruns of classic Nintendo games to crown a winner. The grand prize winner will recieve a fully-loaded GamerSac and a bronzed NES Powerglove trophy.
We're going to have several different NES games going at once, as well as a Super Nintendo with Mario Kart & Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It should be an great night of videogames & beer. This will be a 21+ and free event.

It sounds like fun, but Sunday nights are tough. Good luck with the event, though, nice to see stuff like this happening in my borough.

Hmm, if this were on a Friday or Saturday I may have gone. But since it's on a Sunday and I don't particularly like Destructoid either, I'm going to pass. Good luck though.

Hey Mr (or Ms) LoveSac, will there be a change for film crews to record the event or will it be a closed event?

Sounds good, I'll give the Mario Kart comp a try. The Lovesac game chair is a pretty decent prize.

Went to the event last night, they had a projector running three NES's and one SNES simultaneously. The games were: Contra, SMB, and Punch Out on NES. There was also SFII Turbo on SNES first, then Super Mario Kart. Players could compete on SFII for some DS games and shwag, play Mario Kart for fun, and compete in the main event: a speedrun of the first level of all three NES games (in Punch Out you had to beat the whole minor bout). Then three people with the lowest combined times went head to head, trying to complete the first world of SMB3 fastest, just like Jimmy Woods in The Wizard. Unfortunately the one projector couldn't handle four systems and there was 1-second lag that made it incredibly hard to play anything well. Despite this, I managed to be one of the top three, and got third place in SMB3. Everyone in the top three got Lovesacs, which I thought were awesome to sit on for playing games. Lots of people were saying the same thing, and that they wanted to buy one after trying it out, which I guess was the point.
In addition to the lovesac, we also got some Wii shwag: a hat, stickers, etc. The first place winner got the same, as well as a lovesac pillow and the bronzed power glove, which looked black and brittle, like it was made out of charcoal. Guess the rubber/plastic didn't take to well to bronzing. Still, I'm sure he loves his power glove: it's so bad. Anyway, the three (four?) staff members did a great job running things: hopefully they fix the projector issue for the next one, otherwise it was a great event.

Hey Tetsu!
I just saw this post. Glad you had a great time! Yeah, we were kind of bummed about the projector issues (it was rented that day, so we didn't have time to make any changes), but I hope your LoveSac is treating you well. Thanks again for coming out (and for anyone reading this who was there, as well)! We can't wait for the Second Annual NES Classic.
