I was about to buy one online, but luckily i read user reviews and found out that there are a lot of cheap knock offs with crappy buttons and short cords. So how long is the original snes controller cords?

Just from memory and without actually measuring I think they were six feet. And not to nitpick but it's "cord" not "chord".

yea 90% of the snes controllers in circulation are yobos. short cords cheap plastic-y feel, seems so sharp they could cut diamonds, and about 2 feet of cord to work with. Whats worse the box they sell in looks surprisingly legitimate i picked up 2 of these by mistake to replace the 2 black yobos that had come with my fc twin lol.

I pulled one out, and it is about 8 feet.
I always wanted to fix the worn out buttons, because the controllers are so much better than those third party pieces of crap (including the short cord).

Fun fact: the super famicom came with both 3ft and 6ft "chord" variations.

lol yes i meant cord not chord. Yea the fake one almost tricked me, on amazon it shows a snes controller box and they say that they have new ones. It did sound too good to be true, so I decided to read user reviews and happy I did.
Also are there snes cord extenders? because 6 feet is still kind of short.

It does not matter how long it is. Just get a wireless controller or extension cable ( which I still don't know how they work with the 5V flowing threw them ).
I have SNES controllers that is unofficial brand and they seem to be longer then the original brand.

think you might be a little off. ever snes came with 2 controllers i think. not to mention all the extra ones that were sold. i never mistook yobo one for snes. see more real ones then knockoff where i am. it says super Nintendo entertainment system right on the front. i only seen that on the real ones now. not many clones use the 2 kinds of purple in the US from what i see. they use the multicolored ones more that you see in other countries.
about the cords i kinda wish they were longer. i have to move about every system closer that i want to play because too short. i have extension cords on the dreamcast and ps2. have the dominator master controller wireless controller made by nexoft that i plug the nes controllers into to play it.
sorry bringing back old topic. didn't look at the date.

how much? betting it is around the same price as the controller itself. hate that now. why should a wire be that much money.

You can get this 6 ft extention for 8 bucks including shipping. Just scroll down in the seller list to find the cheaper price. Might want to check ebay too then.

Yea but buying a new controller wont make it any longer lol. It sucks I know, but if you want a longer wire you gotta get ripped off once to buy it. You would have thought that the companies who made the systems would have produced these wire extensions but that is never the case, so they are hard to find.

well yeah but they use usb cables which are cheap and don't need to get another controller to do that now. you can get 10-15 foot cables from any place. from $2-$10 depending on where you look. they could be more but who would want to spend more. i suggest looking at http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?spcDB=10303&spcWord=USB+Cable&keyword=usb
lets see $60 for another controller or $2-$3 for 10 foot cable. i don't know how you can play a ps3 long enough to runt he battery down anyways. i heard the battery lasts upto 20-25 hours usually. think the newer ones might last longer because they shut off when not being used too. if you are playing that long straight you should be taking a break now. sorry but there is no argument in that link i gave which was why i don't know how it got to be so many pages long.
ok quoting because said it better then i could.
"Sony doesn't give us the shaft, we got built in wireless, online play free, built in blue ray free, being able to charge our controllers with our PS3 instead of buying a charger, all this stuff for free instead of the other system(wont say its name) that has to buy these things extra. With the other system, you have to pay for oline play, the HD-DVD player which is useless now you had to pay for a extra part for it to work, to have wireless on it you had to pay for a part, and you had to buy batteries our buy a charger,
all in all, with the other system...if you wanted things that PS3 gave you for free, it would cost you more than $400 to get them!, so quick downing PS3 our jump ship to the darkside"
