NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Afficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.

Previously at NAVA...
- Nearly a hundred prizes were given away via trivia questions, game challenges, or other random events.
- A dozen or so spirited attendees came in costume.
- Videogame-themed Haikus were written by attendees, read aloud, and rewarded (or jeered).
- Many games and systems traded hands between attendees.
- Pictures and video tell it best:

http://www.youtube.com/digitalpressllc

The November NAVA is "themeless". As it is days after Thanksgiving we intend to be on a full bender and shall continue the drinking and merriment from noon to midnight with our guests! And drinking.

We will be hosting a Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii) tournament at 6pm, entry fee is $10 and the pot will be split between 1st place (60%), 2nd place (20%), and the house (20%).

Get your trade boxes in order. Get your game face on. It's THAT time again!

When: Saturday, November 29th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

I'm sad that I won't be able to attend (yet again :[ ) but the entire PBC posse will be visiting their folks in Buffalo that weekend. Except for Z, who will be performing once more on the Cartoon Network "Fosters" float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

And then passing out for four days.

Someone ANYONE get some film of Z in action, that would be awesome to see from the perspective of a parade from a float.

The "Merchandise" link has come and gone over the years. It's a Cafepress thing though, I don't have that stuff in the store. If you PM me I can order things for you if you'd like.

I'm not sure if I will come or not. That probably means I will, but I won't be making any guarantees. However, if John Hardie guarantees his attendance in writing, I will too!

My 20 year reunion is that night in New Brunswick, so we will be there for most of the afternoon. I have some store credit that is burning a hole in my wallet, hopefully there will be some stuff left after Black Friday. :)

And as always, if anyone has the box and docs for 7800 Tank Command, bring it and I will give you at least a dollar for it. Perhaps more even. :P

Anybody interested in a great condition set of Rock Band 1 drums for PS3? (They also work with PS2)

I'm going to be picking up the Rock Band 2 drum set + cymbal attachments in the weeks to come and GameStop doesn't buy back the drum kits used.

They work perfectly, have minimal wear, and technically speaking there's nothing that they can't do in Rock Band 2 that the new set can other than work with the cymbals/in game cymbal features. I picked up Rock Band 2 disc-only as I hate the Rock Band Fender guitar and its crap-tastic no-click strum-bar and wasn't going to buy the whole RB2 set which would leave me with TWO Fenders that I wouldn't use (thank god for the Nyko Frontman 3).

But, I digress ...

I'll be happy to let them go very cheap for a NAVA member.

Say, $25?

Any takers?

Same here. I haven't played Brawl in some time now, it wouldn't hurt to do a little training now, would it?
My 3 friends (Not the ones that usually come with me to NAVA) are great at Smash Bros. It wouldn't suprise me one bit if they win the tourney this month, but it's all in good fun.

So obviously one of the two primary monitors will have a Wii attached to it (though we could theoretically just hook that up at 6pm when the tournament starts)... any thoughts to what we should hook up to the second monotir?

SNES? Intellivision? PORN?

Your thoughts, as always, are appreciated! And largely ignored.

Glad you can make it! Seems like it's been awhile.

I'm not buying up everything like I once did. I'm way overloaded. It's getting hard to even walk around in the basement anymore! If you've got stuff I can put on the shelves right away, I'm in. If it's going downstairs, not so much.

Yes, it's been far too long! I finally got some vacation time, and am looking forward to catching up with you as well.

As for games, I'm actually hoping to get rid of stuff and swap it for some the last few PS2 games to "complete" my collection:

Gradius III & IV
Taito Legends 2
Neo Contra
Castlevania Curse of Darkness
Ico

My trade pile is a bit thin, I'll be bringing mostly common PS2 stuff: simpsons game, fire pro wrestling, guilty gear isuka, etc. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but I will have Front Mission 3 for PS1. Mostly I'll have plenty of cash on hand, so I'll be doing more shopping than trading. Can't wait to see the store!

Sorry for the complete and utter delay of me getting a fixed video of Joe's haiku reading from last month posted. I have been extremely busy with work from the last two weeks of October into mid-November. Now the hell is over so I have a large load off my mind. I got the new video posted at a new link:

http://www.megavideo.com/?v=FRHC0BOK

I still need to post the Game Boy Camera pictures I took at the last NAVA sometime on Saturday before this month's meeting starts. This month I will still contribute a White Castle Crave Case and accept donations for a second one like last month. I discovered that cases are roughly $25 bucks a piece when taxes are included. Once I get the cases I will bring them into the basement so we can all feast on them.

Great meetup yesterday. Everyone's favorite John Hardie showed up and after that I think the party got a whole lot better.

My stuff that I sold turned out to be a great success. I gave Joe this little keychain from Fallout 3 and he loved it, I have like 6 more of them so if anyone wants one just PM me and I'll bring it next month. Another not surprising thing was the fact that even more people came up to me saying "Hey..... Do you work here?" but it's always nice to help someone out when it's simple questions.

Next month wil be hectic since it's around Christmas, and I'll have A LOT more stuff to sell, system wise. See everyone next month!

You rock, man. I love the little Vault 101 keychain. I already have a story to share:

I have FOUR "best friends". We've been gaming buddies for years and years but over the past 3 years we've been pretty separated - mainly by distance but also by priorities. So it was particularly awesome to have all five of us together for the first time in at least five years. Celebrating the event, we headed to the basement for a quick "beer and photo" shoot.

http://www.digitpress.com/images/store/tn_081129_069_jpg.jpg (http://www.digitpress.com/images/store/081129_069.jpg)

So as we're getting into position for the photo, the lone female in this group says to me... "oh, look at that cute little guy" and is clearly pointing at my genitals.

"Are you pointing at my penis?"

I forgot. I had clipped that little Fallout 3 keychain to belt loop and it was dangling down in about that area she was pointing.

"Yes, you have a tiny penis!"

OK she didn't really say that, but I like to spin a good story.

Anyway, thanks again!

I can't wait until next month since you will be selling systems.
1 problem, gotta set a limit, gotta start saving for car insurance.

Also A+ NAVA once again.

The Best part of NAVA, is where I fooled Dylan into thinking Joe was selling GTA IV for x-box 360 for $1.99. It turn out to be a bunch of video clips on a GTA IV promo dvd. You would have been surprised how many kids, thought GTA IV was $1.99, but later read it wasn't. LOL LOL

What an unexpectedly great day.

For starters, there was no "theme" or anything special planned at all, really. Other than a Smash Bros Brawl tournament which is why I didn't hoopla up this month, knowing I'd be tied up a bit with the local kids.

And yet.

The "pre-NAVA" gang of Hardie, Stilphen, Evanoff, Solowsky and Santulli were together for the first time since (I think) 2003. We've all connected in bits and pieces but this was the first time in many years we were all together. That alone made this a really special event for me personally.

Panzer Dragoon Saga was traded in for the first time.

Two thirds of the old "NYC" contingent also showed up. Greg ("geelw") Wilcox and Jessen ("tetsu") Jurado. I haven't seen Adrienne ("achika") Barr/Warmington in quite some time, but that would have been another crazy alignment of stars. Still, very cool to have these guys here together after not having seen them for so long.

Scott had a custom toilet seat designed and installed in the employee rest room. It's pretty hard to describe a videogame-related toilet seat, but pictures tell it best: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125058

I truly believe my friends are the best in the world. And when I get to see so many of them in one place on one day... well, it's just too cool.

It's like building up a tollerance to snake venom through repeated bites.

(For the most part) you'll get less of that the more frequently you indulge.

But we of the frequent White Castle eaters can completely understand if you never have another. They're certainly not for the faint of stomach/colon. :D

I guess I didn't notice when I saw it the first time but this toilet seat has some BRILLIANT subtle scatological themes going on! The swirling Tempest vibe on the seat alone is amazing, and the asteroids chunks on the lid are the icing on the cake.

My first time to the DP store, ever, and I was impressed: a real gamer's store, with awesome displays, stuff arranged alphabetically and games priced according to completeness and quality. It was great to see and chat with Joe, John, Don, and Greg again, who I haven't seen in forever, as well as meet some forum folks in person, Frankiesaysrelax and Vectorman0. I bought some good stuff from Joe's store, including a kick-ass arcade controller with real Happ parts, a Bung Xchanger for game boy, and a multi-controller usb adapter. Thanks guys! Guess I don't see it? I've missed plenty of Robotron's game nights because I didn't think a whole lot of people that I like hanging with were going to show up. Nothing against Robo, the guy's a good friend of mine, but it's something of a drive, especially if barely anyone I know is going to be there. I think of that the same way.

Hell, I don't even know of half the people who show up to his shindigs anymore :P

I've never used the DP restroom before but now I probably should just for the novelty of it.

I had a great time, as always. One thing I regret is that I had to duck out around 7 due to an issue sprung on me over the phone. No disrespect to anyone I didn't say my goodbyes to.

I'd recommend using it before the White Castle/Pizza arrive/are digested by most members.

I'm laughing because the first thing I thought of when I read her comment (well, her comment via ubersaurus) was "you mean she misses *Don*?"

Had a blast like usual, met some nice people and got some cool stuff.

But I can't wait until I can make a trip to the store without a car full of stuff to get rid of, so I can spend more time playing games instead of trying to sell games.

Guess I don't see it? I've missed plenty of Robotron's game nights because I didn't think a whole lot of people that I like hanging with were going to show up. Nothing against Robo, the guy's a good friend of mine, but it's something of a drive, especially if barely anyone I know is going to be there.

Two of the "many levels" I refer to.

1) They don't have a long drive to the store. Shorter than MY drive.

2) There are always plenty of "old hands" there. Even Greg, still coming from NYC, has been to 3 or 4 NAVA's this year.

Bonus "level": Achika's Mr. Do! arcade cab is still sitting in my basement. I think it's been a year now. Still waiting for someone to cart it away, I could really use the space.

December's announcement due in t-minus 24 hours.

Say the word and that cab will be outta there this weekend. I'd enjoy restoring it to its former glory.

I think the basement could use some entertainment (aside from Mike telling stories). Is it working?
