ok so im doing some business with this guy in Canada and he says that he has two hard cased odyssey 2 games. He says instead of cardboard the boxes are hard of a hard plastic. I told him that they were probably some kind of rental cases and he said he would send me a pic. He doesn't know a lot but he seems to want to learn so has anyone heard of these and if so can you give me any info hope to have pic soon. btw yes i did tell him to check out the site.

Looks legit. My Brazillian O2 cart (thanks Earl!) is in a similar case. I think that might be standard fare for import carts.

The hard cases are cases from Videopac (the European version of the O2) games; there's a slot for the manual in the front, sort of like a CD jewel case, and the cartridge fits inside. Videopac cases are pretty durable (and in fact, I'd like a few for my homebrew collection, but they're hard to find without a game already in 'em).

For what it's worth, those are North American games he's stuck in the Euro cases, so they should still work on your machine. I'm not sure if the hard cases were in use in Canada or not, come to think of it.
There are also cases which have clear trays (as opposed to solid black), which in Europe was reserved for G7400+ (European version of the unreleased-over-here Odyssey3 console) games.
From a collecting standpoint I'd rather have a nicely preserved original cardboard O2 box for my games, but there is a certain appeal to the slightly more rugged protection that the hard cases offer.
