With the current trend towards putting actual effort into mobile phone games past very simple text-based games or traditional card games, what classic games would you like to see on a mobile phone? Try to think of stuff from the smaller developers - that is, not Atari or Activision - as I'm in a position to make it a reality. I'm developing a number of mobile phone games currently (Barry Bonds Homerun Baseball being one, which will be out in a month or so, available on Verizon/AT&T to start), and would like to port/update some of the classic games that time has forgotten. I figure if individuals own the rights to some of the games that were developed by their smaller companies, or represent some of these long-gone companies, I may be able to get licenses to do the development and get them onto carriers.

Post your thoughts/suggestions in this forum, which I'll be checking over the next week or so, for possible games. If I can hunt down the owners of the copyrights - and if my programming partner (I'm handling the graphics/sound of the games) shows interest in any of the game ideas - I'll see what I can do to get them made.

Start posting...now! :)

No no, games that are NOT by the big developers - I could never get the rights to SMB for mobile phone development - at least not for a reasonable price.

Also, think OLDER. Mid to late-80s era.

Read the original post yet again  ...looking for games NOT from the big developers. Looking for games that are from the smaller companies. This has nothing to do with the mobile phone platform, as it could easily handle SMB/Pacman/Donkey Kong, but everything to do with licensing rights, royalties and fees. Games from the smaller developers of this time will be cheaper, possibly even free (in some cases) to license, yet still retain the recognition of the public consciousness.

So, again, don't suggest anything made by Atari, Activision, Nintendo, Namco, Sega, SNK, Capcom, etc. Those are NOT small companies (unfortunately), and even on the off-chance that they were willing to license their properties for mobile phone development, they would be too expensive.

Would Mr. DO! be a potential target?

blah i don't want any games to be made for mobile phones, they all suck, i don't have any need to play games on my mobile, if i want to play out of my home i'll take my gba/ngpc/ws/lynx/gamegear/whatever with me, i think mobile phone games are one of the worst developments ever made for cellphones
