Boy, they are going to make people come to the Chuckwagon in droves by pulling crap like this.
So I go to list some items my wife wants me to sell - and I goto list a similar item that I listed last week and I get this message from Ebay, and they won't let me list.

You are currently restricted from listing new items because your detailed seller ratings (DSRs) are below the minimum performance standard for sellers.
Sellers are required to maintain a rating of at least 4.1 on each DSR to sell on eBay. Sellers with one or more DSR below 4.1 will be restricted from listing until their DSRs improve. Additionally, sellers with one or more DSR below 4.3 may be subject to lowered standing in search results.
Although you won't be able to list items as long as your DSRs are below 4.1, you will still be able to complete any open transactions, access your account, bid or purchase items, and communicate with your trading partners.
Please note that sellers who are not in good standing are not allowed to register new accounts. Also, another existing eBay account cannot be used to avoid buying and selling restrictions or other policy consequences.
You can find more information on the Seller Non-Performance Policy page or the FAQ page. Find out more information on how to improve your DSRs on the Seller Feedback page.

Ebay is going to kill themselves.
Hail Donohue, the idiot who killed Ebay!
And what's worse is that I think Ebay eliminated the Microsoft Live promotion...
Damn F bastards.... :(

Funny thing is I listed a bunch of my wife's stuff last week and never got the message while listing. I guess it's my shipping time is killing me but give me a break. I guess they don't want any of our money anymore. I am just pissed beyond belief.
I am more motivated then ever to bite into one of their biggest money making categories - Video Games :)
All hail the Chuckwagon !!!!

What the heck are you doing selling on ebay anyhow? Isn't that like high treason for you? I guess your wife isn't selling videogames. What is she selling? Why don't you make a special category for it on CtCW so you can sell it there?

No chance on getting an account if I made an account a week or so ago, right? :p

I feel your pain on this one, if the items you'd been selling were video games I'm betting your DSR would have almost certainly faired better.
I've been meaning to set up an account for a long time, but I guess there is no better time to register on chuckwagon than RIGHT NOW.

I haven't sold on ebay in a while and this reminds me of the fact that I made a good decision :)
Uhh... so if you can't sell until your rating improves, then how are you supposed to improve your rating?

Okay, here's what I don't understand.
If you have low DSRs, then you are restricted from selling.
So in order to receive and improve your DSRs, you must actually sell something. Which you are restricted from doing so in the first place due to the above statement.
Does that make sense to anyone?

Old ratings drop off. After a while all scores will go back to 5 and feedback will go to 100%. Don't ask me how that means your suddenly a better seller though.
The only rating I'd had any issue with was S&H. And I always charge actual shipping. If the buyer wants to give anyone less than 5 stars it needs to be the post office.

We signed up nearly 100 members running the F Ebay promotion. Thanks to everyone here who registered. If you missed out on this, no worries, the costs to sell on the Chuckwagon are still considerably cheaper than Ebay so don't hesitate to register and try it out.
I hope you all will attempt to list some items this holiday season as we will be doing lots to promote the site the next couple months.
Doh! How did I miss this? Mike : )

See it's really cool to have both Chase and Game Gavel, but I'd also love to have an auction site that had other things. I sell many things that are not even remotely video game related.

Really? Hit HOME
Oh Ok. It makes sense now. It's not so much that it "Hits Home," as it's a cleverly worded viral advertisement designed to appeal to fed-up ebay users. Why respect the intelligence of DP users, when you can try to outsmart them by guising a website plug as a rant from an ebay member whose recently been "shafted" by a new policy.
I'd prefer a more direct approach. Why can't one just come right out with it? "Ebay sucks. In order to get your business, and prove to you we're not an eBay, we have this special promotion running."
I guess I'm the only one who thinks this way.

No he would have a direct approach if his original intention was those free memberships. He was upset when he tried to list some items and that is how the rant started. He sat around and stewed for a few hours and then offered free memberships
this all of course is my opinion

Yes, that's EXACTLY what it is.
You must have some good mind-reading abilities to know exactly what hits home to Kaboomer and what doesn't. Good thing you're here to point that out.

Ya, I was genuinely outraged at the message I got from them while trying to relist a similar items I already had listed. Never saw it coming. Then decided to take another stab at them by offering up the memberships. That's all. The offer was an after thought, but one that did turn into a pretty darn good promotion :)
It was never intended to be a straight out advertisement for our site, as I already have a single thread running about that. I was a collector and gamer first and foremost and still am. It's not like I just started the auction site to spam it all over the place (as nearly all forums gave me permission to start a thread prior to me doing it). I truly want it to be a site I can use as well as everyone else as Ebay is just getting to F'ed up these days. And I loved Ebay back in the hay day. I was a member since 97 and it was a big reason I could really enjoy collecting. I am just hoping to start where they are leaving off.

Just got a call from our friends at Ebay - a gal that could barely read here script - wanting to tell me about how I can best promote my items during the holiday season. I asked why she was calling me as currently I can't even sell on Ebay any more due to a 4.0 ranking for shipping. She didn't have a clue what to say and after I said I was taking my business elsewhere asked if she could still email me the information, so that when I was able to sell again I could take advantage of their "holiday" promotion information.
I am at a loss for words right now :)

I think it's after 6 months, or something like that. For me I have the shipping calculator.
