Hello!
I am new in this forum.
Just wanted to say that I just started my retrogaming collection buying the Nintendo 64, Mario 64 and Dr. Mario :)
In the next days I'll look into some other games. I'd love to buy Blast Corps (seems really funny) and Wave Race.
Bye

If you have friends that are worth a damn, you must get WWF No Mercy. Just trust me.
Although I hear Bomberman 64 is supposed to be amazing with multiple people.

Congrats!
The N64 is a great console.
Many underrated games as well.
If you can get the N64 Expansion Pack, get the official one. It's the best.

Mmm, so it is really a game soooo good? I will surely buy a copy this Sunday! I am lucky because I live very close to Icarus Games (http://www.icarusgames.net) and Jason, the owner of the place, has literally everything eheh!

Get Harvest Moon or Yoshi's Story for your Missus.
For yourself, I'd recommend the awesome StarFox 64, Goldeneye and both Zelda games.

omg WWF No Mercy...that game is like...god's gift to the N64 for wrestling fans.
If your girlfriend likes just all around fun games, go for Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart 64. Those are some fun games.

If you like games like Mario 64, the Banjo series (Banjo-Tooie and Banjo-Kazooie) is pretty good.

I have to second (maybe third) goldeneye. That is one of my favorite top ten games of all time.
Also second Mario Kart 64 and Mega Man 64. Mario Kart 64 was the reason I bought my first N64.

Beetle Adventure Racing is a must have if you're in to racing games at all.
Also, the N64 versions of Doom and Quake II are very good and very different from the PC games.

Ah, this thread is making me miss mine...
SIDEQUEST: The N64 was the only console/games I really regret selling to GS (then Funcoland)... I had a boxed Atomic Purple set with 6-7 boxed games (some good, some not as much). Traded it in, and watched them take the games out of the box and THROW the pristine boxes right in the trash. I had thought they gave higher trade-in value with boxes (something they used to do), but alas, I guess they had stopped doing that. Very tramatic experience even to my pre-classic collector self :( Had I known they didn't want boxes...maybe I would have kept them..
ANYWAYS, sorry about that..
Glad to hear you are picking one up, I loved Mario 64 and Wave Race back in the day.
-Paper Mario, seconded, as it's the only 64 game I still currently own!
-Mischief Makers, bound to be mentioned here, great little platformer by Treasure
-Star Wars: Rouge Squadron, if you like star wars games, this ones great--i recommend having the expansion pak though, makes things alot sharper
I also liked these back when they first came out, but I can't tell you if they've aged well or not, hopefully others can help on that one--
-Rocket: Robot on Wheels (3d platform/adventure)
-Snowboard Kids 2 (racing)
glad to see someone mentioned Space Station Silicon Valley--always ment to play that one!
Man, I need a 64...

Oh and Mario 64 is the best on the N64 with the N64 controller, from my experience no emulation or even the DS version has compared, it's obvious it was tailored for that controller. Peace, have fun. :D

Yea Mario 64, zelda games, and 007 games are worth picking up. Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, Hybrid Heaven, Winback, Vigilante 8, and the Mario Party games are all very fun as well.

Blast Corps is an addictive game. I actually beat it in 3 days... but I played it a LOT... like all day every one of those 3 days. Great fun.
If you like 3d platformers, then the Banjo series is the best on the system, imo.
Jet Force Gemini is fun, but you may pull your hair out once you learn what it takes to beat it.

This is a list of the highest (and lowest) rated N64 games:
Top 50 and Bottom 25 Nintendo 64 games list (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114086)
Some of my favorites are:
1080 Snowboarding
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Goemon's Great Adventure
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Mario Golf
Mischief Makers
Perfect Dark
Pokemon Puzzle League
Rayman 2
Star Fox 64
Super Mario 64
Wave Race 64
If you like baseball, All Star Baseball 2001 is the best one.
If you like fighting games, Mortal Kombat 4, Killer Instinct Gold, and Super Smash Bros. are the best ones.
If you like racing games, you're in luck. You have plenty of excellent ones to choose from! Beetle Adventure Racing, Diddy Kong Racing, F-1 World Grand Prix, F-Zero X, Ridge Racer 64, San Francisco Rush 2049, Star Wars Episode I: Racer, Top Gear Overdrive, Top Gear Rally, Wave Race 64, Wipeout 64, and World Driver Championship are the best ones.

If you don't want to spend ten bucks for No Mercy, just pick up Wrestlemania 2000. In fact, many people I know who are serious about wrestling games prefer Wrestlemania 2000. It has much less slowdown than No Mercy. The game is less dark too.
The major things that No Mercy have over Wrestlemania 2000 are running grapples (which are very important strategy-wise in matches with friends) and the addition of a ladder match. Be warned though, thanks to the great slowdown whenever there are four characters on screen, the tag team ladder match is excruciatingly slow.
If you want to pay extra to get a better gaming experience, just get Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. It is part of the same line. It came out before No Mercy but has a lot of different moves and a tweaked engine. Of course, the roster consists of mostly Japanese wrestlers, as it is an All Japan Pro Wrestling product. You also need to use a Gameshark to play it, or cut the plastic tabs on the back of the cart. However, the gameplay is tweaked a little to make the game faster paced while still allowing for long epic matches. Nothing beats a Virtual Pro Wrestling tag match with four evenly matched humans. I've had some epic 45 minute bouts. It's my third favorite game of all time, actually.

I think you mean Rogue Leader and Space Station Silicon Valley.
No, he was correct to begin with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is on the Nintendo 64 and is the best game in the series. Star Wars: Rogue Leader came out on the GameCube.
My recommendations (in no particular order):
StarFox 64
Top Gear Rally
GoldenEye 007 - it's f****** GOLDENEYE
Perfect Dark
Sin & Punishment
Blast Corps - one of the most unique games ever made. Also unique for the N64 in that it's one of the few 64 games that gets BETTER as time goes on.
Super Mario 64 - best 3D platformer ever made
Mario Kart 64 - best multiplayer mode ever
Snowboard Kids - You have not experienced multiplayer gaming to its fullest and zaniest until you and three other people are yelling at the chairlift.
San Francisco RUSH
Pokemon Snap
Pokemon Stadium 2
Any THQ wrestling game, though obviously No Mercy being the last in the series has the most stuff.

I second Mystical Ninja.
Jet Force Gemini is a good choice as well and yes, it does throw a bit of a curve ball when you're near the end of the game.

I love Jet Force Gemini, excellent music, but I wouldn't recommend it to an N64 newcomer.

Nah, N64 version is Squadron.
Buy everything that was made by the developer Rare. If you would like a "serious" racing game then try to find World Driver Championship. It's Gran Turismo for the N64. Also try to find a copy of Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. It's a Pod Racer game and is VERY good and unique.
N64 is not Nintendo's best, but by all means a console with a few good titles.
The main probelm is the fuzzy graphics, many Nin fanboys always try to hide this fact by blaming the TV/monitor, which is utter rubbish, of course...
Golden Eye looks very dated nowadays, one to avoid, but you gotta get this for sure:

We actually have a set of "Marketplace" forums that are geared towards buying/selling, auctions, and feedback for other members you've dealt with.
When you've had an account here for a little over a week they should automatically become visible to you, and you could then make a proper selling thread that would almost undoubtedly attract more attention than a bump in here would.

SIDE NOTE: He's probably no longer around being that it has been two years since he last made a post on this forum.
But for those that are considering the N64, there are a lot of very good titles for this system. The last cart based home console, (sniff, sniff).
N64 has joined the ranks of retro gaming I'm afraid. I am still playing. I get a daily dose of Ridge Racer 64.
Kirby 64, Hydro Thunder, Rayman 2, Dark Rift, extreme-G, Cruis'n Exotica, are a few good titles to consider. At least they are ones that have not been listed.
I've got a copy of Pokemon Snap I'll hook you up with for $7 shipped if you want it. Send me a PM.

The N64 is a great console system and has some games that are not only excellent but also last the test of time.
Only one thing better than having an N64 console system, and that's making it into a handheld portable system! :-P
