Well, I bought the copies of protos in 96 for VCS from Best Electronics:

CX 2665 Frog Pond
CX 2678 Dukes of Hazard
CX 2695 Xevious
CX 26106 Groover’s Music Maker
CX 26108 Donald Duck’s Speed Boat
CX 26115 Dumbo’s Flying Circus
CX 26122 Sinistar
CX 26131 Monster Cise
CX 26133 The A-Team

and also the Best 5200 self-made copy of Bounty Bob strikes back.

We were told at the time that they are not of any value and they don't affect the high value of the original protos,
or in Bounty Bob's case, the original. So there.

Portnoyd: Braveheart does have a lot of money, I do not deny that, he has a great job, and it's his choice to spend his money as he wishes, though I have to say I don't understand why he keeps buying doubles/triples/quadruples unless it is out of pure boredom or something.

I don't think people that collect have any mental instabilities or anything. I just wanted a library of games, and I don't really have to do much to get the newer releases much since I have a contact who sells them to me cheap. Everyone has some type of "thing" going on, and for me it's a lot better then spending my money going out drinking or something, LOL

One of the reason I went from about 300 up to 1100 where I am today within about a 2 year span is because for awhile, I purposefully spent all of my money on games so that I would not have any money for drugs (which used to be a major problem for me). Buying more games helped me clean up. Because of games, I am proud to say that I have been off of drugs for 1 and a half years. I drink every now and again, and smoke cigs, but video games helped save my life.

Good job - congrats. I deal with a lot of people through my work who's lives are just ripped apart by drugs and it's rare for any of them to get anywhere with it.

I deal with one girl who I went to university with. She's 29. While in school, she seemed totally normal, an athletic type. I didn't know here well at all, just knew of her. Nowadays she lives with whatever man will keep her for the night and exchanges sexual favours for prescription drugs.

Maybe she should pick up an NES.

Thank you.

I was more of a "distributor" who would use because I made enough profit after buying that i could get myself something. I started buying games and less drugs. I shouldn't say started, I did. One time after a "deal", I spent over 300 on games and was completely broke. No way to buy more drugs. Every penny I would get after that went towards games.

Yes, some of my games are paid for with "dirty money", but not that many.

I got to the point where I was spending less and less money on games, and was still able to not buy anything else since I had not used in awhile.

Some people spend a bunch of money on games, but you would never know why unless it came up. I am proud that I have done what I have done, so I tell people all the time (except for job interviews. It may not go over too well that I was a former addict).

I don't understand why he keeps buying doubles/triples/quadruples.

I think having a game collection of any abnormal size requires some level of mental deficiency.

Shamelessly hotlinked. And when GISing for 'rimshot', make sure SafeSearch is on... christ!

hahaha, like when i accidently went to boobs.com at work, hahaha
i was helping somebody with some php, and to be funny, i used boobs.com as an example url, and then he wanted me to go to his url, and low and behold, i am at boobs.com

yeah, it is fun to explain that to bosses when youtube, myspace, and facebook are blocked from my job's firewall, but boobs.com is not

WOW... this thread sure did transform since the last time I posted in it... @_@

I nominate it for Thread of the Year... it's getting better than Calm the Beef Min now...

you know a thread has hopelessly derailed when it gets a visit from the Butter Monster... I think that's what he's all about... no one ever told me though...

anyhow, the Butter Monster Calms the Beef Min...

THANKS, Butter Monster! :D

Why are you mad? Don't tell me you are taking this personally? My opinions are solely mine, and I don't expect everyone to agree with it. But you could at least respect my opinion, like I do yours. No need getting mad at something like this.

I'm not getting mad at all, maybe use of capital letters isn't considered the same in your country than mine, sorry. I don't take it personally either. Sorry :)

I'm sorry to say that I like to be generous. I like to help people. That is my nature and it will always be that way.

I do,either.I like to help people. But when you get palms in your face "helping" people with $2000 games, well that changes your point of view. :)

There is no need for mockery, like what you are doing. I respect your opinion, and I hope you can respect mine.

I do. There is no mockery here. Only a "testimony" (if that's the english word) of what happens in real life, when you contribute with $2000 games.

Making the assumption that the people in your example wouldn't be generous and giving is the same as saying people like you specifically are 'loaded' and didn't work for your collection. Honestly dude, are you drunk? This comment is pretty angry and out of left field. What gives?

What the ..?! Are you serious? I pratically never drank alcohol in my life, sorry :)
Wasn't compatible with what i was doing.
I never made such assumption. I said that generally, the people who talk the most are the ones who do the less, that is ALL what i was saying. Nothing more.
I paid for $2000 games,i released them for free, and i got palms in the face for it,yes, that's a real experience. But what the hell are you talking about Lost Levels or others of such kind..? I never said they were not generous..? Did i mention anyone precisely? NO.

Fortunately, DreamTR understood my "horrible mocking" way of saying things.

I say who cares.

enjoy what games you have (regardless of the game).

If you get flack for it (no pun intended), then stop caring what others think. do whatever the hell you want with YOUR games.

Adol, it's funny after all the "generosity" he would supposedly do with said money, check his posting on Atari Age where he basically was stating that it was worthless to spend that much money on a piece of cardboard because you can spend it on games you enjoy. Now if you are going to argue about being a philanthropist in the gaming community, you really should recheck the things you previously wrote (you = megasdkirby).
