So HD Remix comes to PSN on Tuesday 25th November, and to XBLA on the 26th. The PSN version will be $14.99 and the Xbox 360 version will presumably be 1200 points/$15. So I reckon we'll be looking at about £12.99 on PSN here in the UK and about €15 for the rest of Europe.

So it's now the trend for good games to be 1200 points instead of 800.

Yeah that price point kind of sucks.
I don't really understand - I know that there's a huge improvement in graphics, but $15.00 for a graphics bump? a bit steep.
$10.00 would be perfect, or give me a physical disc and I'll pay more.

Is it really that surprising? $15 will seen cheap after the GTA4 DLC price is announced. My guess is $29.99 to $39.99.

They also made gameplay changes in an attempt to make the game more balanced. You can play the original version with the souped up graphics if you wanted to though.

I think it would be a nice surprise if Capcom included some sort of bonus unlockable content exclusive to owners of both HD Remix and IV. Nothing major, just something like a couple of alternate costumes and a gallery of production sketches.

$15 is nothing for the amount of work that went into this version. Calling it a "graphics bump" is doing it a disservice.

That would be awesome, and therefore, it won't happen :)

Then give me a physical disc and I'll pay more. I just hate paying more than $10 for an electronic copy.
I'll be buying the PS3 version when I get my HDTV the first week of December. Can't wait.

Maybe you'll get lucky and Capcom will offer it on disc as a preorder bonus for SF4.

Then don't buy it.
15 is a steal for this game. I'd pay 60 bucks and not think twice. What I want is a nice six button controller with a d-pad that does what I'd like it to do. Until then, I won't get much online use (or wins) using the 360 pad or the Hori stick I own.

Does this version have the four new characters they introduced towards the end of the SFII franchise? I always liked the Bruce Lee guy (Fei Long or whatever his name was).

I believe so. I know I've seen Fei Long and he looks good.
I will not be buying this however. I had it in my mind I might at $10, but with a release of $15, nah, I am fine. Though it would look sweet on my TV. I'm still getting down with Valkyria Chronicles, and then I may roll off to KOF or SF4...maybe.

If you've read into any of the changes they've done to remix mode, it's pretty much a brand new version of SF2. Considering that those retailed for what, 70 bucks? back in the 90s, 15 is a damn good price.

Hey if they upgraded it more than I know, that's fine.
If I'm spending more than $10.00, I just want a physical copy of the game. Maybe that makes me old fashioned, I don't know. If they pressed it onto a disc and released it as a budget title, I'd gladly pay $19.99 for it, and I realize that this doesn't make any sense ;)

They had me with the beta attached to Commando 3. I love the smoothness, the updated graphics.
They lost me at $15. Sorry Capcom, know your pricepoints. Remember how well Mega Man 9 sold? And Bionic Commando? and Commando 3? I bought those, because they were good games at $10.
Not $15.

you do realize how long street fighter II hd was in the making?
very, very long time.
there was a ton of work put into it, I can see why they are pricing it at $15, tekken dark resurrection costs $30 via digital download and people still bought it,
$15 is very reasonable as game got updated besides graphics.

I don't care how much work was put into it, I still won't be buying a downloadable game at $15 or more unless I found a points card really cheap or something. Same reason why I won't be buying Banjo Kazooie or Braid for $15, they just aren't worth it to me. If they can release a brand new game that took a lot of time to make like Bionic Commando or Mega Man 9 for $10, then they can release Banjo, Braid, and SFII HD at $10 and still be profitable. Mega Man 9 proves this.

with that mindset you are going to miss on incredible games because of $5.
Banjo Kazooie, Braid, Castle Crashers are my favorite xbla games and well worth the money.
better value than many retail titles you'd buy for considerably more money.
it's pretty ridiculous that people are willing to pass on such awesome games over $5 higher price point.

No, but it makes it completely worthless as a commodity, because a digital download has no resale value unless it's transferable to another individual.
AFAIK, neither Sony nor Microsoft allow users to resell their digital licenses for games and DLC.

Absolutely not, I can play the demos forever, I got in the SF II Beta, and I bought the first XBOX Live SFII. These games that are "redone" that I have on cartridge or disc elsewhere just aren't worth $15 to me. I have to budget wisely, so I have to do this math:
Mega Man 9 + Bionic Commando + Commando 3 =$30
15 decent Rock Band Songs = $30
Braid + Banjo = $30
Half of a new release ($59.99) game (Cod5, L4D, etc.) = $30
A budget title new release (Namco Virtual Museum w/ XBLA games!!) = $30
I am not saying these aren't good games, or great gameplay experiences. I played Braid, I played SFII HD Remix, they are good games. $15 is the tipping point for me. I can't justify those prices, when I can get just as good games at the $10 price point. And to top it off, Microsoft after a year or so has a tendency to drop the prices and add them to their "Platinum Hits" line of XBLA games, or be discounted like during that Summer Sale a few months ago. So maybe I will get to play SFIIHD or Braid some day if they drop in price. I am definitely open to that. Or if someone gifts them to me. XBL ID = GrandAmChandler
But for now I have to budget wisely. I need as much gaming bang for my buck.

Heh, I might sit down and compile all the arguments for each side on the XBLA price points, but it just comes down to standards for some things. You can view Me, GrandAm, Coldbeer, etc. as old men, not wanting to get down with the new hip thing, but really, we are collectors too. We collect physical items, like to hold them, and look at them.
Like I said, points have been argued by multiple people across multiple forums about multiple points, engaging in XBLA content. Just take those arguments, and imagine each and everyone one of us posting, instead of the original posters in there. -_-

haha, I'm a collector too, but if game is only available in one form(digital), and it's worth playing - there is no question - I will get it, $15 isn't out of this world, $20-$30 would be pushing it, but you're getting great value at 15 smackeroos.
I own Banjo Kazooie, Tooie on carts and I think I have even sealed copies as well but xbla versions are so much better in every aspect.
I will enjoy them more on my hdtv in HD, instead of playing it on my N64 with blurry graphics, pop up, inferior sound and so on.
it's all about the experience.
and I also have bought SFII hyper fighting for $10, it was good, though paying $5 more for superior version is ok with me.
and by the way, sometimes you can get good deal on points as well(let's say 1600 for $16), which even sweetens your purchase.

No. Get Assault Heroes instead. If you only have a PS3... Still no. That game was thoroughly Backboned.
No, but it makes it completely worthless as a commodity, because a digital download has no resale value unless it's transferable to another individual.
AFAIK, neither Sony nor Microsoft allow users to resell their digital licenses for games and DLC.
Personally, I collect games to play them. I never sell my games anyway, so to me, the point is moot.
These days, the average price of disc based games drops dramatically very quickly. Very few retail games, especially from the last generation or so, resell for anything above their original retail price. Certain Atlus games, Elektroplankton, MGS 3 Limited Edition... Are there any others? I can't think of any.
I've got hundreds of carts and discs in my house. I don't necessarily need yet another one if there's a digital version available. And look at it this way: the future of 'rare games' may be in consoles with hard drives that have certain games on them. So you don't buy a game like Braid or SSF2THD because of five dollars. Ten years from now, a PS3 or 360 HDD with those games sells for five times it's original price. Just a thought.
haha, I'm a collector too, but if game is only available in one form(digital), and it's worth playing - there is no question - I will get it, $15 isn't out of this world, $20-$30 would be pushing it, but you're getting great value at 15 smackeroos.
Especially when you get a look at the setting options. They border on obsessive lunacy.
I'm a huge fan of fighting games in general, so I realize my perspective is a little different than the average buyer, but fifteen dollars seems like a fair price to me. I don't care at all about not having a physical copy. I have plenty of games on my shelf already. I care about good consistent net play and depth of play. Hell, if I don't have to take Little Big Planet out of my disc drive to play SSF2THD, then so much the better.
Basically, I look at it like this: Super Street Fighter II Turbo is one the absolute best tournament fighting games ever produced. The new version is supposedly even better, but even if the 'rebalance' mode isn't up to snuff, you still get the original version with HD graphics and an online mode that actually works(unlike the Hyper Fighting version). That's totally worth fifteen bucks to me.
Considering that games like Castle Crashers, Braid, Penny Arcade Adventures, and (deep breath)Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD offer as much content as some disc based games, I don't understand why some people get so pissed off at the pricing. These are not cheap, simple arcade ports of games available on compilations or flash games. They're full games in and of themselves and I'd wager that if they were available on disc at twice their current prices, no one would complain at all.

Presumeably one could redownload it onto a new hard drive. Also, I expect the next Xbox machine to allow downloaded games onto their console. Same with the PS3, though the way that gets hacked I wouldn't be surprised if someone just finds a way to pirate the game eventually and put it on PS3s as much as they want.
And hey, Capcom may put out a disc version someday. This is the company that defined "milk everything," after all. Point is a lot of the best games this gen are downloadable. I'm not going to miss out on them because I can't put them on a shelf.

I'm betting on this. Namco is putting some of their XBLA games out on that new compilation disc, so why not Capcom? Put SFIIHD, Bionic Commando, Commando, and some of their other XBLA games on disc and I'm sure it'd sell well.
