Or so they say: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/wii-games-discounted-at-a-faster-rate-ndash-eedar-/

Because I have to research game prices for my Target/Sears/every other store discount thread, I'm fairly familiar with what games get discounted. As far as Wii games go, it's usually their shovelware games that get this quick discount they are talking about. The 360 and PS3 are more likely to get discounts on AAA games(compared to the Wii), which is a good thing for us gamers.

As always, your milage will vary, but going by Target(the retailer that sells more discounted/clearance games than all the other major chains) Wii shovelware games will be in abundance in the clearance aisle(although you can still find good stuff like No More Heroes and Metroid Prime 3) and cross gen games almost always get discounted on the PS3 first, regardless of if they were released before, after or at the same time as the 360 version. The only noticable exception was the GTA 4 limited edition, which got a discount on the 360 first(some stores never discounted the PS3 version and just sent them back to the publisher).

I'm still waiting on Mario Kart DS (not a Wii game I know) to get a price drop.

Considering the amount of shovelware that's on the system, I'm not the least bit surprised.

A more interesting study would be to find which company's first party games get discounted the fastest. Are games like Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, and Twilight Princess still full price?

AAA PS3 titles take forever to drop in price. Thank god for the Greatest Hits program, otherwise I'm sure Resistance and Ninja Gaiden would still be full price. Come on Uncharted! Go GH!

I'm thinking this as well, that it's the shovelware that's driving up the statistic. Every time I go in to see where prices are at on older current-gen titles, I'm always bummed out to see the same AAA Wii titles from as early as 2006 (or early 07) still sitting at $49.99. More than once I've left instead with A-list "Platinum Hits" 360 games made after many of them. Sucks.

Similarly, last time I looked, Pokemon Emerald was still retail price (34.99) where they still have it. Amazing.

You'd think retailers would smarten up and stop carrying all the shitware that gets pumped out for Wii.
They must be losing a lot of money having to discount all that trash.

All are still full price on the Wii, but the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess has been discounted in several different chains as low as $25.

Come on Uncharted! Go GH!

Uncharted is currently on clearance at Target for $41.98. It "should" go down to atleast $34.98 (if not $27.98) in the next two weeks.

Wii Fit is still one of the highest selling games, so it's still at full price.

"The top-selling Wii game in October was, again, Wii Fit, with 487,000 units sold. Mario Kart Wii sold 290,000 copies and Wii Play picked up another 282,000 converts."

IGN - Wii outsells Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PSP combined in October 2008 (http://wii.ign.com/articles/930/930077p1.html)

I don't mind it. But I definetly don't see 1st party titles dropping that much in price compared to the Pimp My Ride Wii game.

I think it's because the general populace doesn't buy Wii games that aren't made by Nintendo, so they sit on the shelf longer. Personally, I prefer niche games like Castle Shikigami III and Guilty Gear: Accent Core to mainstream games like Mario Kart, but parents don't know what the hell a Guilty Gear is, and I like it that way, even though I've never seen either of these games released anywhere but Gamestop.

This isn't scientific at all, but as a frequent shopper of the Target clearance bin, I'd say Wii games outnumber every other system, home or portable, at least 4 to 1 and the majority of the Targets I've ever been in.

I haven't had much luck in my neck of the woods with that, but I'll call around and see if any of the other local targets have it marked down. Can't complain too much, because I've been fucking swimming in marked down PS3 games this month (Dynasty Warriors Gundam, Burnout Paradise, Hot Shots Golf Out of Bounds, Folklore for $15/ea and plenty for $7.50-$10)
