View Full Version : Removable neck on Guitar Hero guitar - why?

A few weeks ago I picked up a refurb copy of Guitar Hero 3 with a wireless guitar for my PS2. The bundle did NOT include any instruction manuals or user guides. (Annoying, but I got a great price so it was tolerable.)

I noticed there is a latch on the back of the guitar, where the neck meets the body, and the neck can be removed. The guitar is black, & is labelled 'Kramer' near where the thumbscrews would be at the top of the neck on a real guitar. I think the back of the guitar had markings indicating it is made by Pelican.

Why would the neck be removable?

For storage, and for shipping.

It was born that way.

Great for guitarists who hate being able to sustain a note!

I'm glad that they did it, I had to take apart my Rockband guitar with a screw driver in order to get it back in the box.

Here's an acoustic version in action. Sounds ok to me.

I would say that guitar sounds pretty awful lol. excuse the pun but it has a very hollow sound, i would go so far as to attribute this to the fact that the notes are very quickly and muddily punctuated almost as if it had some kind of problem with sustain. Lol But to each his own. I tend to dislike guitars with bolt through necks, quick release bolt on necks is just too far down that path for me.
