So I found my copy of Diablo II, I was gong to install it again...then I see the CD-Key rubbed off. I read that the only way to get it again is to PAY Blizzard 10 bucks to get it again, isn't this some crap? Has anyone else done it a different way, or a alternative way to get it? :?

Not sure, luckily I wrote mine down, as my Diablo 2 cd-key also rubbed off after a couple years.

have mine, I don't really play it anymore:

[key removed]

but it's from a European version, so I cannot guarantee success.

Mod edit - Please do not post cd keys

Can he PM it? I'll try it anyways. Thanks.

I just think its crap that I have to BUY the number I had, because they didn't put it on a better printed area.

Anyone remember the copy protection wouldn't let the game install. (I think if it detected a burner). It was rediculous.

I think it's outrageous to charge $10 for a new CD key if they can't even be bothered to put in on the jewel case properly in the first place, on some sticky label OUTSIDE the jewel case only to find it had rubbed off after time.

Anyway, pm if still needed.

PM sent! Wonder why they adopted such crappy support for rubbed off cd-keys? Which would be their fault since its a bad print job.

Diablo II doesn't need the CD anymore - the latest patch removed the CD checks.

Also, if you register your Diablo II and LOD keys with Blizzard, you can download both games for free. I used a few spare keys and got both games without any issues. ;)

This is why they make key-gens.

Well that... and piracy.

Oh? That is how I played Diablo for the past years as it cuts down on load times and lowers the possibility of scratching your discs or rubbing off a key. I have version 1.0 of Diablo II and 1.03 for LoD and just mount a virtual LoD disc when I want to play. It's nice to know I won't need to mount anything before gameplay now.

Seriously - you can't be pissed off at them for your CD rubbing off like what, 10 years after you bought the game?

How can you call that their fault? Hell, they offered to sell you a copy of the game for 10 bucks when you said it was rubbed off. I'm surprised they even responded to a question on an old unsupported game.

Chill, man.

^^ I agree to a certain extent. Not sell me a copy of the game...Just give me the cd-key and thats it. Its not like they are giving me a new copy or even a download.
Its not like I'm foaming at the mouth for it either or fuming, it is just a discussion on a forum, chill man.

I had the same problem awhile back. Lucky for me my friend had 2 copies because 1 of his discs broke. I had a disc and he had 2 keys. So he gave me one. Ever since then I wrote it down TWICE :) just to be on the safe side.

On a somewhat related note - I thought Battlenet was shut down? Can you still play online Diablo II?

... Shut down? Battle.NET's still going strong! And it's still free. Ad supported, but free. :)
