This thought came to me while reading the "One of the biggest game system collections?" where people mentioned expanding their collections as a result of becoming active in these forums.

What portion of your collection is attributable to being a member of this community?

Myself as an example, I was buying far fewer games and mostly to resell before I found DP. I wasn't displaying my games like I do now before I found this site. I also can attribute the arcade game in my garage to info I learned from Flack and others here about things like Superauctions. I'd actually say about 70% of my collection can be in some way attributed to my membership here.

Me having a video game collection and not just selling everything after I'm done with it is because of here and CAG.

DP helped me learn more about rarer games that I could have passed on before I came here. Just random browsing through their online rarity guide and reading everyone's post taught me a lot.

I know roughly how much to pay for a console/game and not having to overpay thanks to all the smart collectors here. It really made me grow as a gamer and a collector.

It hasn't affected my interest or buying habits, its just a interesting place to discuss videogames for me. I stumbled across the site years ago because of my interest, rather than discovering this site that than ignited some interest in collecting old games and such.

I haven't currently purchased anything else because of Digital Press. My collection was actually just as big as it is now.

However, after actually posting in Digital Press and reading more of the forum rather than just checking out some of the site periodically, I've actually seriously thought of putting some real time into collecting stuff. I've actually looked into a bunch of arcade machines that I've always wanted but never really thought of purchasing any.

I am actually thinking of purchasing that one arcade machine with a couple hundred classic arcade titles. Does anyone know if any of the gaming companies are actually getting any sortof profit from this item or no?

I found this site though an old friend, got very active, then met people of NWCGE through a classic gaming expo. I now live in the Northwest, help run local shows as a NWCGE member, and have large game collection. I owe this site and atariage alot for making a good forum for gamers to unite.

Living in Europe, DP and The 2600 Connection were a godsend during the first half of the 90s. Couldn't have done without those two.

Without DP..

My collection would be slightly smaller, and my ebay rating would be slightly higher.

I got the DP Lite guide when I purchased my Generation NEX and haven't been the same since. I carry it with me when I go to the flea market and often buy a game based on its rarity (old man Dexter has Pirates! for 8 bucks...thinking it over). Always collected but based it on personal preference only. I'd say my collection has grown considerably thanks to DP (I sometimes purchase a game so i can check the box next to it and complete an entire column whether its a stinker or not). Unfortunately I've picked up some rather sorry games, but every now and then I'll get a decent one I otherwise would not have purchased (Princess Tomato was rather enjoyable and I'm glad I picked it up). It's nice having a full companion list to look at and research which suit my taste before buying. Plus I know better than to give up my rares for commons.

My collection is a lot more varied thanks to DP. I never would have heard of a lot of the games that I have picked up over the last couple years.

Well I think my collection wouldn't be the same if I had not joined digital press .If I wasn't part of digital press my turbo grafx collection would be quite abysmal and I would be stuck paying the inflated prices on Ebay for quality turbo grafx games. Most of people here have respect and don't treat you like a idiot when you buy something ,because people here are educated enough to know what is something is worth.

For me, it wasn't just Digital Press, it was several sites. After reading about people's successes at thrift stores, I slowly started shopping there around 2002 or 2003, not really finding anything, but on advice from others I kept it up until I found something in a store that motivated me to do it more often. I found my Vectrex. For $5. (And I found a Rastan arcade cab that seemed to be dead, but I passed on it and regretted it later).

Once I started thrifting, my collection blossomed. In these past few years, it's easily double the size it was.

Although I will never say why, my collection would have been a blessing and a curse without DP.

I've gotten some great games through DP and I've met some wonderful people here. I really like the boards and the fanzine. Everything about DP has been a blessing EXCEPT one thing.

I will not say what it is, though one member here knows why. It's nothing to do with the members, since everyone here is awesome...I am referring to something else.

But that will remain with me forever.
