I recently saw a G4 roundtable where a comment was made reagarding online gaming and the lack of titles programmed specifically to take advantage of the medium. This got me thinking and I came up with an idea for an online dating game - someone tell me why this wouldn't work. Basically you would have a fully customizable avatar, and be able to input stats for likes/dislikes, interests, hobbies etc as well as what you are seeking. Then there would be different areas like chat rooms, an arcade area -where you could play two player mini games like air hockey, arcade hoops, darts?pool? etc. Another area would feature a version of "the dating game" or some other gameshow dating game. I haven't really flushed it out any further but basically it would be like a cross of The Sims and an online dating service. I mean people already pay to join these online services -no? Why not make it into a fun online video game?
