Wait... what the hell? WHY is there a snowshovel in that pic? I'm going to have to ask my parents on that one.

And figured someone else had that robot. Far as I remember it broke pretty soon after lol

Awesome pics, guys!

I had that robot when I was a kid too. I forget the name of it but I remember it was able to throw a ball with one of its arms.

I have no pictures of me as a kid. Never liked getting pictures taken but I do remember my mom one time took a picture of me playing Astyanax on the NES when I first got it.

I'm the one on the left. The "old guy" is my dad. It was Christmas of 1976, I think. Dig our shirts. They were groovy.

Well I don't have a picture, but here is a video of what is perhaps my first exposure to video games.

The year was 1989, I was 3 years old and ready to embrace gaming full on. Just look at how mesmerized I am watching my cousin play Nintendo!

Sadly, I don't think I have any pictures of me playing games as a kid. The only video game pictures I remember ever being taken were after I beat a game my dad would take pics of the ending screens. Wish I had some of me actually playing :(

You can't see what I'm playing but if you're an old school expert, you'll notice the ear plugs that came with the original GameBoy.

The best I can do for now is a picture of me in my Marine Corps days playing one of those newfangled Nintendo Game Boys (approximately March 1990).

I can probably find something older than this but I'll have to dig through my parents' scrapbooks.

Yes it is, i still have my talking teacher and my fisher-price tape player.

(wrong answer buzzer sound)

Ooooh, I'm sorry. The correct answer is "Speak & Read" (http://datamath.org/Speech/SpeaknRead.htm), basically the Speak & Spell's little brother.

Don't feel bad. It's hard to differentiate the two, just remember that the Speak & Spell is orange, the Speak & Read is yellow, and the Speak & Math is grey. They're all awesome toys nontheless.

As for your tabletop game, I've been trying to figure out what it is. I can tell that it's a VFD tabletop game, with a 2 word title. If you want to try to find out what it is for yourself I'd suggest looking here (http://www.handheldmuseum.com/). I'd say just from the style of the game it could be Tandy, Entex, Epoch, Tomy, or perhaps Bandai. I'm not saying that it isn't made by another company, but it's most likely by one of the ones I've suggested.

Damn, I remember having a photo of me and a friend in front of the TV where we had just beaten Sonic 2 on the MegaDrive. We were so proud and my mom had to take a picture of us! Been searching through bunches of old pictures, loose ones as well as ones in books but cant find the damn picture anywhere :(

Well I'm not sure just how many pictures I have of playing games as a kid, I know there's a few of me opening my Gameboy Advance in 2002 though. Oh and these are some great pictures, The one from 1976 is great. And Overbite, That pic screams 80s and looks like its from Bill And Ted's Adventure or something. I agree, That picture is good enough to have been in Nintendo Power.

I have lots of old, blurry videos of me playing PSX games as a kid but there's one from Chuck E Cheese's in St.Charles when I opened my PSX for my fifth birthday party there. I'll find it and upload it onto youtube when I can. I was born in 1996 so I don't have any from the more classical systems like NES, so this is the best I could do. T.T

Yep, it's Astro Thunder (http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Tandy/AstroThunder.htm) by Tandy! Could be a different variation, but it's the same game.

You know, I never really thought about it. That was my Aunt's house and my memory of it is fuzzy. If I remember correctly, that room was designated "The Game Room", so it was an "anything goes" scenario.

If anybody hasn't seen the video it's pretty cool. 80's haircuts and Nintendo. Ghosts & Goblins and Super Mario. Can't go wrong.

My 7th bithday party at a local arcade in November of 1981 playing a factory fresh Pac-Man machine. The girl standing next to me is my sisters friend. My mom is playing the Lightning pinball machine in the back.

I have alot more from this party, I just need to scan them.

Oh yes Farrel's. We went there a few times for my birthday when i was a kid. I remember they would come out banging this giant drum and sing happy birthday to you. A very unique experience. As i recall they also had a couple arcade games off to the side. Just a couple.
I have this fond memory of getting my first Kazoo there. lol (just a cheap 2 cent plastic kazoo they sold in the gift shop), but i thought it was so cool. I guess it didn't take much to entertain me. ROFL

Too bad they shut it down.

I have very fond memories of going to the one in Birmingham, AL. before it closed in 1983. One time we went, our family split one of those buckets of ice cream they had (the trough? I forgot the names...But it was HUGE!!), I played Pac-Man or Centipede when I wasn't browsing through the candy store. Then we all went to see The Cannonball Run. As a kid, I loved when someone had a birthday and they would all come out singing, ringing bells, and beating that giant drum - then trailing behind them was a giant tub of Ice Cream with sparklers as candles. The kids loved it! The adults, on the other hand....

They need to hurry up and open a new store on the east coast, where they are dearly missed! :)

awww man you guys had the best experiences :(
all i had was twistee treat ice cream in fort myers florida when i was a kid. which was a ice cream shop in the shape of a giant ice cream!

on a side note about the kazoo. I too was easily amused by simple cheap toys and stuff too. When i was a kid when i went to go get my hair cut. If i was good at the end i could take my hair and they had this machine where you toss in a lil bit of hair it would dispense candy or a toy or something! it was crazy :o

oh and i sadly don't have a photo of me playing games when i was little :(

We have a Twistee Treat in Clyde OH to this day. And it's a small brown ice cream cone shaped building. I had no clue it was a chain.

My oldest brother received an Atari 2600 for Christmas, and his grades went down, so my parents threw it out. Thus began a long dry spell of no video games for many years until I finally got a gameboy for Christmas when I was 10 or so, in '92 or '93. I was obsessed with games, but couldn't get my hands on them unless I went to a friends or neighbors.

Thus, I don't remember having any pics of myself playing games, but it's also why I'm such a big collector now. My kids have video games everywhere. Amazing what happens when you suppress a kid's interests.

Hmm. I was 15 when we got an Atari 2600, but my parents didn't take any photos of it. And I was 24 when I got the NES and Genesis but no photos taken then either. There may possibly be a photo somewhere of me playing Pong at age 12.
