This is an interesting question, I'm pondering on this for quite some time. With the recent release of Age of Empires: Mythologies i think the total has come to 4 or so. (Please correct me if i'm mistaken) I know this is not a large number, this might be a coincidence for all i know but do you think we will see more and more of this as the DS and the DSI come along?
So far these are the games I know of:
1.Age of Empires: Age of Kings(I think)
2.Age of Empires: Mythologies
3.Syberia
4.Populus DS

Don't forget Myst (as well as being ported to every other console since its inception).

My educated guess would be that 3 of those are rts type games, so it is probably easier to setup controls, cuz the stylus could act like a mouse

I'm actually surprised there aren't more PC games being ported, especially FPS and point-and-click adventures.

this. P&C adventure games seem natural. hopefully w/ the DSi's larger screen we will start seeing them.
also, you forgot:
theme park
sim city
civilization
elf bowling (lol i know i know)

Syberia coming out for DS? Sold! Shame it's probably just the first game and doesn't bundle in the second. Oh well, I'll still buy both if they both come out (even though the first was far better). Hell, already bought 'em for PC and Xbox, may as well get 'em on DS as well. I absolutely loved the puzzle design in the game (logical puzzles that didn't require massive amounts of backtracking or pixel hunting).
Age of Empires rocked on DS because they adapted the game well to the system (as a turn based strategy game). Looks like Mythologies follows the same formula, so I'm pumped for that.

Yeah Age of Empires was excellent on the DS. I think it is a wild stretch to call it a port though; it's quite different. I also thought I read that they saw a potential for growth with RTS games on the DS after Age of Empires. I think Disciples is coming...or was, another RTS.
What's the word on Populous? Is it a buy?

Yea, I saw this trend awhile back and find it interesting. The DS needs a larger screen though for games like Syberia to really show their artwork. If it became less portable then the DS would be the perfect platform for graphically detailed games. I'm still waiting for the Wii to take advantage of the point + click controllers and bring PC RTS titles onboard.

yeah, aoe on ds was not a port, just another game with the same name.
when i first heard about it, i was excited and actually thought about buying a ds, since the aoe series is one of my favorites, but after i heard about how they changed it into a turn-based strategy game, i was completely turned off. if only they'd actually ported the game, that might have been reason #2 to buy a ds.

There's also Cake Mania and Diner Dash, and I'm sure several other games in that vein (ie ports of internet games).
On the subject of adventure games, I think the first Broken Sword game is meant to get a DS port soon. Great game, btw.

Oh, nice! I played the JA2 demo back in the day and really dug it.
My fingers are crossed for a Neverhood or Grim Fandango port. Those would be amazing.

While not the same exact game, I guess Spore fits into here as well.

Having old P&C games ported over would rock or new ones in general....I think a new Gobliins game is well overdue :D

Thanks for the heads up. Just preordered it on Amazon. :D

Only if they also include Suckin' Grits on Route 66! As it is, I'd love to see a port of either the PC or console version of Powerslave w/ quicksaves. Or Blood w/ both expansions. *swoon*

I wish someone would release NDS versions of Black Isles PC games. Man...that would be fuckin' rad. Planescape: Torment DS, Fallout DS ...might be hard with the small screen though i guess.

If you like old lucasarts adventures then theres no need to wait as you can play all the old stuff using the scummvm emulator on the ds. Just copy the needed files off your old pc lucasarts games into the right directorys on the emulator & bam, emulated touchscreen lucasarts portable p&c fun. Obviously you need a flash cart to run the emulator but the rest is free assuming you already have the game disks.
On mine i have
Sam & max
Day of the tentacle
Indiana jones & the last crusade
Indiana jones & the fate of atlantis
Simon the sorcerer 1 & 2
Monkey island 1 & 2
Beneath a steel sky
Maniac mansion
enough adventuring for any journey, i love having them with me for nostalgic fun. Who would have thought years ago when they all first came out that we would eventually be able to have them all in one place on a portable small enough to slip in your pocket.

Good lord, why is Syberia being ported to the DS? I just saw an ad for it on Gamestop.com!

I don't think the DS really has the resolution for something like Syberia. There certainly weren't many favorable comments for Myst.

(Apparently they got it working on a Nokia (http://linux.prinas.si/gemrb/doku.php).)

The limited technical specs of old DOS games fit in well with the specs of the DS, and the touchscreen is an OK substitute for a mouse (although still not as good as a mouse in terms of "pointing-and-clicking"). Besides, many of those games are real gems that hearken back to an era when dev houses were smaller affairs, and people could experiment more easily and realize their creative vision with less myopic control from the bean-counters.
Of course, the lack of professional controls in place to restrict "vision" eventually lead to a PC gaming scene where you could never buy a game upon release because of the large number of bugs, but on the whole, it seems like there were a lot more original concepts coming out.
Nowadays the same reasons make the scene for Flash games pretty interesting. It would be cool to see some more of those come out for the DS in some form or another just like N+ did.

I made my PC-gamer freinds insane when I joked about starcraft coming to the DS. turns out they actually were working on it at some point. I regularly think of PC games and tell this one guy that they are coming to the DS. he's caught on by now, but I nearly convinced him that HL2 EP1 was coming. oh man that was good.
Oh yeah, is MP:hunters not exactly like unreal tournament in multiplayer?
